First reported by hobby news website ICv2.com, Tasty Minstrel Games announced Cthulhu Realms, a deck building game designed by Darwin Kastle at a hobby industry-only show two weeks ago called GAMA in Los Vegas.
“It’s built on Darwin Kastle’s Star Realms engine,” said Daniel Hadlock of Tasty Minstrel, referring to the outer space deck building card game from White Wizard Games. However, this deck building game is set in the realm of H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu.
“The art takes a humorous horror approach, so it’s Cthulhu, but it’s got a family-friendly little twist to it,” said Hadlock. “It has a little bit deeper, a little more tricky game play than an average deck builder game.”
The game is for 2-4 players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 25-45 minutes. MSRP is $19.95, release is tentatively set for Gen Con, but may be later in the year.

Tasty Minstrel Games will release Village Port, the second expansion for the 2012 Kennerspiel des Jahres winner Village in January.
Inka and Markus Brand’s Village is a worker placement and set collection game that has players take control of families in a small historic town. Each player pursues a different career path (a friar, a public official, an adventuring merchant) to find fame and glory and bring honor to their family name. The first expansion, Village Inn, was released in 2013. This new expansion, Village Port, allows players to board their own ship and travel the seven seas, perhaps as missionary or a merchant. It includes life goal cards, so players can pursue a specific career (writer, historian, knight). As an expansion, it requires the base game to play.
The box contains: a sea travel board, 5 wooden ships, 6 cocoa baskets, 6 tea bales, 5 ship tiles, 6 treasure chests, 15 captain cards, 4 setup cards, 12 influence cubes, 7 life goal cards, and 4 new villager cards (for use when combining Village Port and Village Inn expansions). The game is for 2-5 players, ages 12 and up, and plays in 60-90 minutes. MSRP is $34.95.
