Coming soon to a Battleground Games & Hobbies near you later this month, Rio Grande Games has announce plans to release a new expansion for the popular deckbuilding game Dominion, called Dominion Adventures.
This is the ninth Dominion expansion. Supporting 2-4 players, Dominion Adventures can be played stand-alone or combined with other Dominion expansions. It contains 400 cards, 6 mats and 60 tokens, including 30 new Kingdom cards, with the return of Duration cards which trigger on future turns. In addition, Reserve cards, which can be saved for the right moment. There is also 20 Event cards that provide you something to buy besides cards, like tokens which modify cards.
Dominion Adventures is designed for ages 13+ with a approximate game play length of 30 minutes and a MSRP of $44.95.
Description of Dominion Adventures from the publisher:
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. You’re not sure which, but at least you’ve narrowed it down. You are rich with life experiences, but have had trouble trading them for goods and services. It’s time to seek your fortune, or anyone’s really, whoever’s is closest. To the west there’s a land of milk and honey, full of giant bees and monstrous cows. To the east, a land of eggs and licorice. To the north, treacherous swamps; to the south, loyal jungles. But all of them have been thoroughly pillaged. You’ve heard legends though of a fifth direction, as yet unspoiled, with its treasures conveniently gathered into troves. You have your sword and your trail mix, handed down from your father, and his father before him. You’ve recruited some recruits and hired some hirelings; you’ve shined your armor and distressed a damsel. You put up a sign saying “Gone Adventuring.” Then you put up another sign, saying “Beware of Dog,” in case people get any ideas. You’re ready. You saddle up your trusty steed, and head florst.”

Rio Grande Games will release a new large expansion for Donald X. Vaccarino’s award-winning Dominion card game in Spring 2015, as first reported by hobby retailer news website ICv2.com.
“We are now working on a new (large box with 400 cards) expansion we expect to have available in the spring (2015),” Rio Grande’s Jay Tummelson said in a recent Board Game Geek forum post.
“We expect then to be able to release the game in late spring – dare I say March or April or May. We will send more information as we have it,” Tummelson also said in another post.
As for future Dominion plans, he also stated, “We may replace the original Treasure and Victory cards (already available separately) in the base set and/or Intrigue at some point, and are also looking at offering a set of the metal tokens (the Treasure and Victory tokens) later in 2015.”
The original Dominion card game, released in 2008, won the 2009 Spiel des Jahres Game of the Year award, the 2009 Origins Award for Best Card Game, and a Mensa Award. The popular card game last appeared on the Top 10 Card/Dice Games chart in Fall 2013. Dominion likewise can take credit for spawning a series of other deck-building board games, including Ascension, Thunderstone, DC Deckbuilding, Legendary, and many others.

According to hobby channel news website ICv2.com, Rio Grande Games has teamed up with Donald X. Vaccarino (Dominion, Kingdom Builder) yet again, this time for the time-travel board game Temporum.
In Temporum, players assume the role of time travellers, manipulating both subtle and major events in history in a bid to gain the most power at the moment that time travel is invented. The game board shows different “paths” that history can take, and players use their hand of cards to travel through time and alter this course of events. Two to five can play, and each game lasts between 30 and 60 minutes.
Temporum is expected to release later this year and will definitely be a highly anticipated release! Look forward to seeing it at your local Battleground Games & Hobbies!
