Rules for the Winter War.
General Rules
• Armies will be built in steps in the amount of 500 points per Week. The deadline will be the Sunday of each week.
• All models must be painted to be fielded. No bare metal, primer-only models allowed. If a model is unpainted in time it may not be used, resulting in that player fielding less than the allocated point total! "Counts As" models are allowed for the duration of each point step. For example, a Plasma Pistol may "Count As" a bolt pistol for the 500-point level, but must be WYSIWYG by the 1000-point deadline.
• Rosters may change between games at each points-level step as new models are painted; The same models from the 500-point list do not have to be fielded in every game until the 1500-point deadline, for example.
500 Points
• The 500-point army uses the “40K in a Flash” Rules, below:
• Armies must include one Troops choice from the appropriate army list.
• No vehicles may have an armor value of greater than 33 (Front + Side + Rear).
• Other than the one compulsory Troops choice, the points may be spent from anywhere in the appropriate Codex using the Standard Force Organization Chart. Prerequisite Rules must be followed, however (needing a Priest to field Arco-Flagellants in a Witch Hunters list, for example).
• Games played at the 500-point level will be played using the Combat Patrol Mission on page 183 of the Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook.
1000 - 3000 Points
• The remainder of each 500-point block level will be constructed using the standard Warhammer 40,000 rules, and the Standard Force Organization Chart. There are no restrictions on Characters, Vehicles, etc, except as noted in the Warhammer 40K Codices (most Special Characters may only be fielded in an army of 1500 points or more, for example).
• Games will be determined randomly, as per the Warhammer 40,000 Mission Selection Rules.
• Remember, only fully painted models are allowed. If there are insufficient painted models available to reach a specific point block deadline, the player plays only with painted models, and may therefore have a "short" army list. Get painting!
Provide feedback on the rules please. There are not set in stone but this is the first draft of the rules.
