Steve saves us again.  Yes, January 8th is our game night.  Our schedule going forward is this:

01/08/10
01/22/10
02/05/10
02/19/10
03/05/10

Probably no need to detail anything past that.

Why not?  Because you'll have killed us all by then... again?

Well, Darksun isn't out until August, but now that you mention it...

I came here for the express purpose of talking about snow.  The snow today and this evening is not supposed to be bad at all, so I don't anticipate any problems.  However, if we do have a blizzard moving forward into the winter I'll cancel the game, because Josh does not drive in the snow.

In general if I'm going to call a game you'll be able to see here in the forums on that Friday.  I'll have cancellations up by lunch time.

That's how I'll handle it if I'm sick or get shot or anything like that as well.

On game days when we don't have enough people to play we'll probably arrange other entertainments.  Boardgames and such.  In the past we gave item rewards and the like for participating in these non-D&D events.  On days when it snows and I decide not to go because I'm a wimp, if everyone ELSE goes and you guys are willing to vouch that fun was had by all, I can give item rewards for that too.

this is for the debate rick, aj, and i were having over the tarrasques hp:

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/tarrasque.htm

it has 48d10+594 hit dice and the suggested hp is 858 so my ardent dealing 449d6+1d4+5 damage almost 84.6% of the time will one hit kill it (at least in 3.5)

maybe deep crystal weapons wont exsist ever in 4e just as a safe measure or psionics will get broken again.

Sweet goblin savior, and here I thought I was a nerd for developing a scoring system and crunching statistics to determine which of the cheftestants was winning Top Chef mid season.

haha i did no crunching the site i posted does it all. u put in attack and damage mods and it tells you everything. the damage is because a 20th level ardent has 343 power points and 100 from high wisdom and deep crystal allows as an unlimited times per day free action to pay 2 power points to deal 2d6 extra damage on my next attack. so 448pp -> 448d6 damage. i know it sounds ridiculous but hey psionics also stop you from breathing, stop your heart, and make your brain explode. haha

Ah, so instead you want to ruin it for all of the kids who play nice with psionics.

My solution to that was rather easy as a DM. The person that built the psionics character to do that usually hated it since an exact copy of a single target killer type came at them from the side of the road or an innn or wherever since you wouldn't see the attack and only he would know what was going on. Or like I did one time when the entire party was annoying me with the broken builds and such, everyone BUT the psionics char had a single target killer go for them one at a time. Psionics is perfectly fine to use in any game as long as the people using it aren't douches with the mechanic.

Like most mechanics.  Psionics make it easy to create a single-target killer, but it can be done with many different classes and builds.  Single-target killers break a lot of home-brew campaigns because there aren't so many combats.  When you've just got one big fight during a given rest cycle, it's easy enough to slaughter the boss monster and ruin the game.

i wasnt being douchey (although the build was rather smelly) ive actually only done that build once for a lvl 20 arrena game friends did. if i did do a psionic in a serious campaign id probablly go soulknife since they are by far the most balanced adn dms are most likely not going to stop them. the most broke they are is if the whole party gets tied up i can make a swiss army knife with my mind haha

i doubt 4th ed will ever make a truly "broken" build. just really fun ones ;D

There've been some fairly sick things found already, but they tend to errata them out, which is good.

My favorite psionic build was that pyro prestige class.  I'm hoping we see something like that in 4e.
