Sounds fun. The one thing i miss about 3.5 is bane weapons and the one-hit kill magic. Maybe ill have a rhode islander bane mace. Ill bring in weapons of legacy this friday if were still on. Im sure ill get jokes about chipmunks from my wisdom teeth but ill endure
Pretty swollen, are you? I think most of us have seen it before.
One hit kill magic, to my mind, is very D&D. Missing out on that kind of magic really changes the feeling of the game, but of course the big problem with it was it was great fun for players to chuck save-or-die spells at monsters BUT it's much less fun to have them chucked back at you. It's also worth mentioning that more than a few GMs cheated on saves for this kind of thing. You could never kill the big bad with a save-or-die spell in games like this...most of the time you couldn't even save-or-die kill famous innkeepers.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: 4e is a lot of fun, but it's not really D&D. Missing out on Vancian magic, save-or-die spells, and powerful magic that does big things like animate dead and planeshift...these are big changes. (Yeah, I know they're there as rituals, but it's not the same at all.)
