Hi all, just a few questions:
1. Who and how can I contact someone to save a spot for my teammate and I?
2. I noticed you guys went with the no Forgeworld judgement this tournament. What has changed since the last tournament that brought this objection to Forgeworld units? In particular I feel the Forgeworld updates give a much needed boost to Inquisitorial forces in terms of transport costs and special rules (rhinos, chimeras, etc.). Banning the flyers and superheavies seems prudent but in general there has never been a better (more balanced) time to allow Forgeworld in the tournament scene.
3. Deathwatch kill teams rules reference the 4th edition Marine codex rather heavily. Couldn't players simply replace the entries found there with the Captain, Librarian and Sternguard entries from the new codex solving any ambiguities concerning wargear options and effects?
You guys ran a great tournament last time. Really looking forward to this one!
1. You can contact me through the message boards (here) either by posting in this thread with the first and last name of the two players on your team as well as the armies you plan to field or you can send me a personal message. Your other option is to call the store and give the same information to whoever answers.
2. There was considerable debate on the topic and it was concluded that the Forgeworld rules were not used to any real extent last time around AND that getting rid of them for this tournament could only cut down on the potential for "bad blood" between teams and headaches / rulings in general. Many people are not familiar with the Forgeworld models and rules and because they were not used heavily last time around we felt it easier to just not allow them.
With that said, I appreciate and understand what they do bring to the game and also see why they might be useful and/or fun in a doubles setting. This time around however, we are going to go without them.
3. I am not particularly familiar with Deathwatch kill teams. This option is extended to players if they choose to take advantage of it. If a player does elect to make use of the option they will have to allow the 5th edition rules to govern how they behave. If the ruling in a given case is not applicable due to the edition of the game, he / she needs to understand that.
Substituting some, part, or all of their rules for something similar (or even equivalent) out of the current edition is too much micro management in my opinion and can only lead to headaches / questions / disagreements.
All of our choices with respect to whats allowed in our events are made with the following in mind, in order:
Keeping problems, disagreements, ambiguity, etc. to a minimum.
Keeping the fun factor as high as possible.
Like you said, the last tournament was a great time. We are looking to duplicate and hopefully improve on that this go around.
I appreciate the questions and encourage people to ask them if they have them.
