RULES FOR WARHAMMER 40,000
DOUBLES TOURNAMENT

Rule Books:
The Warhammer 40K Fifth Edition Rules will be used.

The following is a list of legal army choices:
Codex: Black Templars
Codex: Blood Angels
Codex: Chaos Daemons
Codex: Chaos Space Marines
Codex: Daemonhunters
Codex: Dark Angels
Codex: Dark Eldar
Codex: Eldar
Codex: Imperial Guard
Kroot Mercenaries
Codex: Necrons
Codex: Orks
Codex: Space Marines
Codex: Space Wolves
Codex: Tau
Codex: Tyranids
Codex: Witchhunters
Deathwatch Kill Teams, where legal

Models & Points:

1. Each player must bring an army consisting of 1250 points or fewer, in accordance
with these rules. Each team will consist of two players fighting together.

The Force Organization Chart will be split up into two parts as follows:

(Each player must take)
1 HQ
0-1 Elites
2-3 Troops
0-1 Fast Attack
0-1 Heavy Support

In addition, the two players on a team share three ‘floating’ selections, one each in Elites,
Fast Attack, and Heavy Support. Either player may use up to two of these floating slots,
but may not use the same slot as their partner. For example, Player A takes a second
Elites choice and a second Heavy Support choice. This means their partner, Player B,
may take a second Fast Attack choice as the third floating slot.

An exception to this is the mandatory choices for some armies.  For example: "You must take this HQ at this many points."  Those choices are allowed outside of these restrictions.

2. All models must follow “What You See Is What You Get” (WYSIWYG). All
weapons, war gear, and so forth must be represented on the model.

3. Forge World Imperial Armor units (and army lists) may NOT be used.

4. If illegal units or other rules violations are found in a player’s army list, at a minimum,
the models in violation will be removed from all subsequent play. In addition,
tournament points may be deducted and/or award eligibility may be forfeited. If in doubt,
please ask for clarification in advance from a Battleground Tournament Organizer.

Awards will be given out to:

Best Overall Team
Second Best Overall Team
Third Best Overall Team (only awarded if the turnout is large)
Best Sportsmen (team)
Best Theme (team)
Best Painted (individual)

Note:  a team may only win one award.

Please post any questions or comments here.

How integrated our our forces? can we share tech (for example, using each other's teleport homers, etc.)?

Also, if a unit/wargear/ability says something to the effect of "choose a friendly unit/model" will our teammate's units count as such?

I believe last tournament the answers to all of these were "No", but I figured I'd post it to clear up any confusion/assumptions early.

The answers to these questions are currently, "no".

Something Jake told me today lead me to believe differently however.  I will speak to people over the next couple of days about this and post the definitive answer when I have it.

Thanks for asking this, Mike.

You had to pick the day Claudia's birthday just happened to be on.... *sigh*

Oh well, if I'm in town that weekend, I'll definitely pop in to at least watch some of it.  But who knows, maybe if I can find a partner to play with, I see what I can do.

That being said, if anyone is in need of a partner for the tournament, please let me know!

Also, Chase, what's the prize for winning?  Store credit?  Cash?  Free 40K stuff?

All prizes will be store credit which is good for anything in the store.

The turnout for our last doubles event was quite high which meant the prizes were quite good.

I think he was just trying to be funny, Steve.  ::)

At any rate, I'm going to try my hardest to be there for it.  If someone's in need of a partner, please feel free to PM me.

Thanks!

Mike and I are returning to defend our title.

Also, we will be teaming up with pink flowered necron and an entire female eldar army.  Does this work with everyone?
