I was wondering what the likelyhood of being able to field the army lists from the horus heresy in 40k events,

Extremely unlikely, for better or worse.

(Assuming you're planning to make use of the HH rules and rulebook).

I'm just in love with the adeptusmechanicus models, I will probably end up just doing counts as armies with them....
but they are nice looking
I was just wondering about the chance of using thier rules

You might try using Astra Militarum (rules-wise) with Imperial Knights. That would be quite Mechanicus...y.

Most of the good models are much larger then a trooper, and they are very sparse in vehicle models atm

the robot walkers look great, the jet pack Infantry as well.
Unfortunately it seems only nids would work rules wise...
but i have a nids army

tau might work... i have them too....

You are far from alone.  I don't know why GW doesn't make an AdMech codex.  Talk about printing money.
Name:  Matthew Forsyth
Club:  Errybody in the gettin tips
Where I play: basically I only show up for tourneys or when I'm on my way up to New Hampshire to visit my folks.  I live about 45 mins from both stores, to the south.

They do its called the horus heresy aka 30k.
I don't see the big deal in playing AdMech in casual games of 40k. 30k lists under 2k are pretty well balanced to most 40k armies. The real problem units are primarchs and some superheavys. 30k on a whole is better balanced as a game (to itself) than 40k ever was.
Im building my tagmata army now and would love to compete but unfortunately it is 30k so it really doesn't belong in a 40k event. Now if there were a 30k tournament. Then Im in.

30k is more balanced because everyone is playing a variation of the exact same army?
