There is a part of my soul buried deep down that still hopes that GW really will come out with better rules, and that this is it...

I know the rumors say that Orks get a codex next but...

I would not be surprised if right after a 7th ed came out, Gdub would say "We have to update our Space Marines to the new edition right now!!!"

Except for this current edition, where Chaos Marines were the 1st codex of 6th.

Were SM ever the actual first codex put out in an edition?

And I was not saying it would happen, I am just saying it would not surprise me.  Actually, since some of the new codii have gone straight to the video game DLC model maybe all the units would be in a Dataslate instead of a codex.  Woohoo, I would not have to buy rules for models that stink...like DA flyers.

SM were 1st for 4th and 5th editions.

Btw, looks like the 6th ed rulebook has disappeared from the U.S. and Canadian websites.

Hard to tell what's really going on here.  They haven't pulled some things you would think they would have like digital versions, Escalation, etc etc

Nah, they will roll it into the new rulebook. It's believed that the FOC slots for Escalation & Stronghold will be included, but the actual entries will still be excluded; thus making them still valid.. and of course sold separately  ;D

I had a quick convo with my **NEW** GW rep today (other one "got a promotion").  No mention of taking books off of shelves.

wonder if it's not going to be 7th per say but a 6.5 updated version of the rules

interesting, it looks like the core rule book is not available in the online store any more though.

Another wait and see scenario....

That doesn't indicate much as didn't GW sell old versions of things right until the last second?

They also have odd ideas about uptime and maintenance windows. It's possible the web developers just went on break after deploying (and not testing) their code.

Told ya.  (well, not you guys, but most everyone who was THE SKY IS FALLING")

The new rulebook is not a 7th edition of the game, but a re-issue of  6th edition which has the FAQs incorporated in it, and some minor tweaks  across the board. Some of you may remember when they did something  similar during 3rd edition, where they totally overhauled the assault  phase, but the edition itself was left alone from that point. Same idea  here-- they're folding in the changes in Stronghold Assault into the  main rulebook, and quantifying superheavy units and D weapons in the  main rules. But that's about it.

Do we have proof of this?
