To me, the fact that it's a superheavy walker is a big strike against taking it in a list.  Sure, it has a S:D chainsword, but you can also pop this thing with two lucky pens.  The wraithknight is still a better option, it only ever loses one wound from a shooting attack (minus ID....)

All that said, I'm still not a fan of superheavies in a normal game of 40k.  I'll probably buy one for painting funtimes, but I'll scowl at people who field them (assuming rumors are true).

I've been following this as well, price seems about right at 375 points, I was hoping for toughness and it being a MC as you are absolutely right about the two lucky pens.

Weaponry on it looks good, and while I share your disdain for D in normal games it is only on the melee weapon and that is certainly not the best use of this thing

How can you say it dies in 2 pens? I don't see its hull points listed anywhere, and getting a 4+ invul after your opponents movement phase on one side is pretty nifty.

Rumor has it that it has 6 hull points, but the superheavy rules dictate that an explodes result removes extra hull points (d3... or 3... dunno, been a while).  Sure, it has the invul, and the S:D chainsword, but as the rumors have it, I think it compares unfavorably to both Wraithknights and riptides.

All of that said, I'm going to hold out judgement until we get a codex.

Rumored to have 6 hull points, and depending how well you roll you could actually kill it in one pen. Explosion + the additional d3 from said explosion

AV13/12 Is pretty flimsy nowadays, 4+ save helps but unless you love got it bubble wrapped good a drop pod and some meltas are going to ruin your day

If it's not a ridiculous amount of money, I might consider that model. Lets see how GW does it...

i'd guess somewhere between a Wraithknight ($115) and a lord of skulls ($160), but since this is GW it may very well be $200 lol

it's all going to come down to how useful these damn things actually are and if TOs even let them in tournaments

If GW is going to try to force Super-heavies into normal 40k even further by putting them in codex's, as part fo the core balance, same as flyers..........well, that will be it for me, I'm afraid.  They obviously want to sell tonka-truck models....but I don't want to play them.  Jumping the shark.

I like all of this. Also rumors that knight titans may be a full codex with mechanicus, stormtroopers, etc units and such

Good thing I do not have high blood pressure given the amount of salt that should come with these...

But I will say, GW lets me do a Mechanicus Army....I may just have to stop playing Orks.....a least for a little while.

Yes, a Mechanicus army sounds pretty cool. Still skeptical about 7th edition already though, but who knows. Maybe it will be awesome. Then again maybe assaults will be even crappier. Either way, in the past few months I've given up hope of ever taking my marines to competitive events, just as my 1850 list was finally coming together. So I say, bring the D and lets all have a little fun.
