So, this is a very pretty model.  I wish there was a way to reasonably play it "normally" (by which I mean the same sort of 40k tournaments run, and is balanced).

But, 3-6 of these things is fucking stupid.  Excuse my French.

Yeah, I know from experience that no one will complain if you use a model that is a lot larger than the normal model (as long as base is the same).  Smaller?  Maybe.

So... if someone has the oval base and wants to do the geometry to figure out the rough height...

That link links to a link with a lot of info that I don't think would be a good idea to link directly to.

This seems to be a good indicator that 7th ed very very close, appears like there will still be a bit of a shake up. Imagine if melta weapons did D3 pens..

I like this idea so much I am going to steal it.

Orks take over a knight world and they decided to work for my orks.  Can use the25mm DF Mortis for the Knight and since the Knight world is now working for the Orks, the 15mm DF Mortis could be the Knight world manufactured Ork Meka Dreads.....

Yup that works.....

As long as Orks get some kind of Orky Melta.

I am actually glad 7th is around the corner.  Hopefully they tweak things to balance that shooting/melee thing.

On a note for scale, it's taller than a Trygon so it probably stands 5.5-6 inches tall.

Looks like they already derped a bit on the rules. Ion Shield is a 4+ invul against HITS, not GLANCES or PENS. Unless they intended to give pseudo-Holofields to Imperial units.

I saw (unsubstantiated, crazy, likely bullshit) rumors of consolidating into close combat (like 3rd (?) edition).  Please dear Emperor make it so.  I honestly think that would fix *so many things*.

Errr, I remember when one assault squad would leapfrog through an entire army. It wasn't good.

Ok, maybe 7th is around the corner, and everything will be great.  But I'm real tired of this "everything is broken now, but we'll fix it in 6 months" philosophy. The games I'm playing now matter too.

Things were only balanced for a couple months after 6th came out anyway, then stuff got crazy again.

That was in 4th ed too. I haven't heard anything on that specifically, but I do agree that something needs to be done to make assault units more competitive. Shooting is VERY strong right now. Time will tell.
