BG has the time on a big screen at one end of the room.  That is like, WICKED helpful.  Also, it's a 10 warning with a finish your turn, not dice down (dice down policies are bad, mm'kay).  That's a good system too.

From what I understood, that game had like 7-10 rules questions to resolve and they were working through that when time was called. I have no idea how it takes that long to resolve some rules questions.

Thus far I agree with everything said so far.

After playing I realize one thing, This Game Needs Comp.  Not to make Care Bears out of us, but to create diversity in lists.

While I realize there exists a Uber-competitive army of the month sect who want Extreme competitiveness, that hurts the community by making the tournament pool shallower as no one really wants to get stomped every game because they brought last month's lists.

It's suppose to be about who's the better general.

My favorite game was #2, not because he didn't bring 5 Riptides, but because he brought a themed Nurgle Beast list that was extremely well painted and really stood out. His list was what 40k should be.
My three Riptides made him take 1000 points of that off.  I tabled him because I brought 3 Riptides.

Each Codex alone deserves to be competitive.

GW has failed to do so.  That leaves the community to do it.

I will embrace BG's attempt to make the game more inclusive and balanced either by a different system ie Highlander or Swedish Komp or the NOVA PDF.

Off topic, but this isn't likely to happen beyond what the Swedish rules incorporate.

Personally, I don't believe in comp directly influencing a person's score.  This is mainly due to the fact that any way you slice it, it's subjective.

Anyhow, aside from one or two things it seems like the events were a success.  I can promise you guys that the Onslaught staff worked pretty hard this weekend.  They even had all of our terrain and tables back on Sunday.  Crazy!

Had a great time at the event and was lucky to get a chance to see so many great armies. My apologies for not being able to judge painting for all armies (Fantasy and 40K) on day one. Was slowed down by players not having their rubrics out, near their armies and with their names on them. Hence I spent a lot of time asking around whose army I was looking at, searching through folders for the rubric and so on.

In the end it worked out an was able to get all of the armies judged.

I dunno, man.  I thought your game against Brad was hilarious for its Riptide on Riptide on Riptide on Riptide on Riptide on Riptide on Riptide on Skyray on Skyray on Skyray on Skyray on Skyray action.

For my thoughts -

I had a blast, even though I forgot how to dice.  And while yes, terrain didn't show up until the 2nd day, the only issue I had was that there were TOO many buildings, and not nearly enough craters/forests/area terrain things.  But that's a matter of debate for some, or perhaps we can have a terrain making day where we make some more area based things.

Real talk about the speaker setup for Warmachine - you guys should do the same.  Hearing Rick yell at one point during the tournament worked as everyone heard it, but it was really jarring compared to hearing an amplified, normal talking voice from our side of the room.
It's the throwing phase now.
