I think a 1 flyer/MC limit would be ok, banning them is a bit much, you know as soon as something gets banned it will open the flood gates for every unit two people can't beat to get banned until all you can use is tactical marines with bolters and orc boyz with shootas

Yea I'd be careful on what gets banned, I'm actually considering starting a new 500pt army exclusively for these 500pt events.

I love it, but I feel like this should be its own event. Maybe even free for all style 500 point deathmatch.

It's called Special Forces, only requirement is an HQ. The point is for a small, elite task force to sneak in and complete the mission.

Aside that, the troops in the game aren't balanced anyway.Grey Hunters are by far the best troop choice in the entire game, it's not even debatable.

I think Eldar Jetbikes are better than Grey Hunters, but it's close. I'd also say Kroot are better if you're just looking for an outflanking scoring unit to get backfield objectives and line breaker.

I didn't say they were bad, but they're certainly not "better than everything else" like they once were.  Heck, plain Tac squads are probably better most of the time now (though that changes a lot upon chapter tactics), or even better yet, crusader squads.

What IS best really depends upon what you want out of you troops.  Cheap scoring?  Mobile scoring?  Something that's very durable?  Someone that can actually fight?  It's not as simple as it once was. 

It's not that Grey Hunters are bad, it's just that calling them "best troop choice in the entire game" just reflects out of date thinking to an extent that it kinda blew my mind. 

@Benjamin If you have a pure troop choice thing, it's unfotunately going to be all Imperial.  Xenos troops mostly can't be tough AND do damage, and marine troops are really the only thing that can fill all roles.  Plus, y'know, bike troops.  I just don't think it would be very interesting.

Are you referring to Dire Avengers or Daemonettes? Because both can do a hell of a lot of damage with rending.. and how can we forget about wraithguard/wraithblades, or even wracks with 2x AP 3 liquefier template? It doesn't seem like you have a good understanding of the game, and that's fine, but to make such a bold assumption is sort of arrogant. I'm sure there are other scary xeno troops too

Grey Hunters are the best all around versatile troops choice, is what I was referring to.
