He also let us know that Nids were in January NOT December like so many other rumors sites predicted. So yeah he has been very accurate with the info he has given us. They way it was explained to us is that 7th Edition will be made to include the new Escalation and Stronghold rules. I would also not be surprised to see the Dataslates added to the main rule book.

Yes this is a rumor at this stage so take it with a grain of salt. But then again everything out source has said has come true. Only time will tell. Have a Merry Christmas with your families and don't let this put a knot in your undies.

Wow, crazy.    Yes, 40k radio have quite the accuracy record so I would bet on this happening.  mostly I'm very very excited b/c I don't like the rules the way they are now...  Looking forward to a shakeup.

I really doubt they'd put out 7th before 6th is 4 years old, and also before they give each codex the 6th ed treatment, but hey anything is possible.

I'd be pretty pissed if it did drop, with the exception of 1st to 2nd edition there's always been a 4,5 or 6 year gap. Two years for a complete overhaul is ridiculous.

If they want to come out with some new BRB that includes the Escalation, Stronghold, and Dataslates that's fine, slap a $75 dollar price tag on it, call it 6.5 and all the TOs will still ignore it and soldier on.

Fast and furious codex releases? great for the hobby

A two year turnaround on the whole bloody edition? ridiculous

Yeah, I will say that if they come out with another edition this soon, it better be good.  Otherwise it's gonna be the last straw for a lot of people.

Thing is, I actually do think that due to recent releases, they now NEED a rules overhaul to prevent the community from splintering into "local versions" of 40k, where one store allows superheavies, the next one over doesn't, one store allows e.g. Belakor, next one over doesn't.  That splinter situation is really bad for the game overall IMHO, because the pieces you need to play this game are expensive and time consuming to assemble and it sucks if you go through that cost only to discover that you won't be able to use your army as much as you thought.

I wouldn't get excited. It's most likely just a repack/copy and paste of the existing rules.

If it's basically just a repack, I think it's extremely shady on GW's part and I probably won't buy the new book.  If I already have all the existing rules, you're telling me I need to shell out another $80 in order to keep playing with those rules with a few minor tweaks?    Maybe TO's will stop requiring that everyone have a copy of the rules?

Hoping for something that is worth buying and a more significant rules overhaul that makes everyone want to play with all 40k models (don't know how that's possible but hey, a man can hope).

I'm still hoping most GT TOs just discount the new stuff even if it's in this new 6.5 "brb"

I paid the 75 for the hardcover, got the pocket size months later when the starter set came out, I will not be buying this new one

There goes the 6.5 theory

Quote

via an anonymous source on Faeit 212 (solid source)
The next edition of 40k will be called 7th, not 6.5 when it drops, but as far as rules go it will be less of a jump than 5th to 6th.

The key areas being updated:
Interceptor, sky fire, fortifications, lords of war, allies and data slates.

As for its release it'll probably be September not "the summer."

It's not finished yet, still being tested so anything can happen.

The thought behind this edition is to make the game less alpha strike explosive and more "competitive" at all points values (even when including Lords of War), but D weapons outside of apocalypse may see alternate rules.

Just because GW is calling it 7 and not 6.5 doesn't mean it's not 6.5 ;p. I'm actually hoping this is legit because 6th is crazy right now and needs to be reigned in a little IMO.  So if GW is willing to fix it then great!  Even if it means another 120-130$ in new rulebook a for me.

Faeit has been wrong many, many times.

Also, I'm not buying another book that does nothing but has the sentence "You can take super heavies" edited into it, and they edit interceptor and skyfire.

You can tell the rumor is false becaude it says it is being tested.
