I've got the C'tan too, and a bucket of warriors. Let me know what you need and we'll make it happen.

Sure, 1850 points? I'll even let you borrow my Revenant if you want.

I actually think I like the C'tan best, that should be easy to proxy, but if I could steal some warriors to make it legal that'd be great.

It also scares me that you have a Revenant ready to go.

I expect a full video batrep of the hissy fit Matt lets loose after his titan gets pwned!!

Sure.  If that happens.

Hehe, exciting.

So Sir Prometheus, being a veteran of the C'Tan (I played him in ONE game), he should be operatin' solo (far away from the rest of your army), due to his nasty tendency to explode across half the board when he dies.

Yup.  I will think upon the optimum scenarios.  I'm thinking likely Thursday next week.

BTW, if I smash you, you have to admit Super-heavies should only be in beer & pretzels play.

I don't have to admit anything. If you smash me, it's because you told me I couldn't play with my toys and you could. Either way, I'm looking forward to the game! Some interesting list building challenges await me for the next few days. :)

This all sounds great and whatnot, but I don't think it's a good representation of escalation. If I knew I was going up against a super heavy, I would make an army to beat it. Like salamanders with Vulkan and as many squads in drop pods with melta guns as would fit in an army.

But if you don't know that you are going up against a super heavy and play what would have been a "normal" list a month ago you could get smashed. Super heavies can be beat, but it requires you to build a list around it, and for a lot of people, this is not how they want to be playing this game. Now someone comment on how the game is changing and we all need to change with it and give it a chance, I know someone wants to.

Honestly, my regular list could handle a super heavy. On my end, I'm wondering if I would redesign my list if I knew there was always a chance I could be facing one. It would likely just be dropping one unit and adding another, no major overhauls.

Unless, of course, Matt wants me to go balls to the wall and show you how easy it is to pop one of those Transcendant mothers. ;)

Ok I just got my hands on Stronghold Assault, the Void Shield Network will shift the meta game a lot more then any silly titan. Since the shields can overlap, it will be almost physically impossible for any D weapon to even do damage to anything underneath it. It also defends against conventional weapons too. I predict this will shift the entire game into assault based units.

Honestly, this is escalation really do sound kool and all, but I just spent several months and at least a thousand bucks building the army I almost have finished. I'd just like some time to play it in what was normal games of 40k.

Time to make me a Klaw Stompa I guess. Do titan close combat weapons count as strength D when they hit or do they just count as regular close close combat weapons. Or do they have a different profile all together?
Should the miserable Grot crews survive for long they will soon become deafened and have to resort to a rudimentary system of sign language. This is rarely successful as there are only so many signs a Grot can carry around with him.

Some superheavies have Str D close combat weapons, other don't.  The ones that don't use the normal rules.

Yeah, exactly.  Which is WHY, if Rob can't take down the superheavy, we can say pretty conclusively it's unbalanced.

And yeah, I don't want to take a super heavy, I don't want to take ANY model that costs $100+ (but GHW sure does want to sell them) and I don't want to have to take a crazy 27 Deep striking Melta list either.  That's WHY these things shouldn't exist in games](except for between two adults, who love each other very much, and want to give each other the D).

Honestly, my regular list could handle a super heavy. On my end, I'm wondering if I would redesign my list if I knew there was always a chance I could be facing one. It would likely just be dropping one unit and adding another, no major overhauls.

Yeah, I know you think it can, don't worry we'll get you sorted out.  You know I'm taking a super heavy, so you can tailor your list if you want, but it'll be a lot more legitimate if you don't.

Remember, those of us who don't want this stuff are upset because we don't want to have to completely remake our lists, our armies, because some people want to play with (and GW wants to sell you) miniatures that aren't so miniature.

I don't understand why we're going to play a game you don't want to play.

I also don't understand how this is any different than when people had to change their lists to deal with flying vehicles, flying monsters, screamerstar, jetseer star, riptide spam, wraithwing, etc. Except this time around, most armies can choose to take a super heavy or gargantuan if they want, and the other things I listed are limited to the one book they're from.

Oh, I do all sorts of unpleasant things to prove a point.

I actually think it'll be sorta fun to go on a godzilla rampage over another army, what I don't think it is a challenging, competitive game.  Knocking over little kids sandcastles is kinda fun, too, but you feel bad for the kids and it's not how I want to spend $20 and a Saturday.

It's probably not that different than playing screamerstar and jetseer, which also don't have reasonable responses-- that's why 2+ rerollable saves really need to be fixed.  But, both those armies will take a whole lot longer to wipe you out.  It is WAY different than Flyers, riptides, wraithwings, etc.  (Riptide spam?  Please.  Riptides are mediocre)

Also, I win more often than not against screamer stars (haven't actually fought a seer council since the new codex).  It's just a crappy, unfun, stupid game.  I don't think you have nearly as good a chance against super heavies.

I said I'd feel bad for the kids.  Hey, don't knock until you try it, right?  Just like the D!
