I feel bad for Kyle, great opponent and the poor guy got stuck playing against Tau all 3 rounds... at least he got some dice out of the deal.

Yah Kyle had a good time and is a great guy.  He was pretty bummed about tau all 3 rounds but he knows it happens sometimes and he'll be better prepared for it next time.  Nice to see my name moving up the ranking a little bit though I'm Steve B the biker player.  Great tourney as always and looking forward to next time.

As always a fun tournament and all three of my opponents were amazing and fun. Hopefully more people can make it out next singles but at least the points spread was pretty decent because of the smaller amount of people.

Any space marines players care to share what tactics they used and what worked for them? In particular, anyone bring Centurions and if so, how did they handle?

Hmm, I can share a couple of interesting lessons from my smokin' boots-threatening performance:

1.  It seems like Chaos Spawn would be good versus the White Scars biker grav-span army...  they have no armour, right?  Unfortunately, Spawn don't really do much in that scenario.  Spawn are good at tarpitting units and slowly grinding them down, but the entire White Scars army has hit and run (even thunderfire cannons, lol).  Charging a unit of bikers with spawn is often just like handing them an express ticket to where they want to go.

2.  There is a Supercuts about 15 minutes from battlegrounds.  if you get the bye, getting a haircut is a good way to kill about an hour.

3. There are some really crazy death stars out there.  Run away from them.  I charged Mike's "SpiritSeerStar" with a great unclean one (iron arm, warp speed, rage, rampage), a daemon prince, a soul grinder, a chaos lord, and 3 spawn, in 1 turn, and on the charge turn I killed 1 drone and 1 wraithguard, or something like that :)

Andalucien i had a fun game with you round 1 sorry it didn't work out but your army is georgous and you were a great opponent.

I was a SM player and I took lots of bikes.  My tactics on 2.5 hours of sleep were fairly basic use my speed, shoot, stay at range, and use hit and run slingshots to keep away from threats and target the troops.  WS chapter tactics make the army extremely hard to pin down if you can't kill the squad outright.  Like Andalucien said he charged one of my bike squads that had all 3 of my chars attached to it with his spawn+Lord. He only killed 1 or 2 bikers but it allowed me to hit and run towards one of his troops then move 12" shoot and charge a unit like 26" away.  I found outflanking dual flamer bike squads to be helpful as well.  My list included a chapter master, khan, rune priest, 5 bike squads, 2 storm talons, and 2 thunderfires.

No centurions though.  I will say that grav is really really good when you have adequate targets like I found out in my 3rd game saturday.  But if you play agains demon screamerstar and chaos spawn 2 games in a row where you aren't facing vehicles or 2/3+ saves it can be frustrating to bring so much grav.  Thankfully I brought other stuff that worked out.

Steve, yeah, it was a good game and fun tourney for me even without, you know, scoring anything.  For a brief moment it did look like I had the upper hand in our game... Overall though i think even if I got used to playing against that force, the Rats would rarely hold their own.   The universal hit and run combined with ATSKNF means that it's really hard for assault to ever accomplish much against those guys.  For example, even when I was finally able to charge your "command squad" with the GUO, he got stuck in a challenge with the lowly  sarge (who he squashed of course), and then you just hit and run out and the whole squad could then be out of the GUO's charge range.  Your army seems extremely fun to play, I'm a little jealous :)

Anyway, Chase, I can't seem to click on these lists, they seem to be password protected?  Anyone else able to open them?

It was only a matter of time until the legendary White Scar list made it down to Battleground ;)

Had a blast, 3 fun games and got to brush elbows with some people I haven't seen in a while.

I didn't realise white scars had a legendary list.
