Creation of a Deamon Prince
« on: October 10, 2013, 03:12:43 AM »
Ok the monster mash has me wanting to make a Deamon prince i have been wanting to do in a looooong time. I want to make the Floating Fat man AKA Baron Harkonen from Dune. Ok basicly he wont be standard deamon prince sized but will be on the appropriate base. For those that dont know Harkonen just google him. He is so  fat he needs a gravity belt to float and is covered in sores he also thinks he looks glorious. My question: what gear should he have? Flight is obvious, and which chaos god?

The two Chaos gods that fit the baron best are Nurgle,  and slaneesh.   (nurgle due to his diseased state,  slaneesh due to his tendency to indulge.)

Other Potential starting models...

Ogre kingdoms.

Ogryns.

Dark eldar big dudes.

Isn't Epidemius on a palanquin? Would he be a good starting point?

You could always contact Bill Souza and http://www.valkyriepainting.com/ to do the conversion for you.  They do amazing work and now that Bill has joined them his conversions are top notch and I'm sure he could build your vision of Barron Harkonan.

LOL! I appreciate that Bill, but im looking to do the kit bash myself :) The Barron is the inspiration for the model, Another idea i had was to use the Great Unclean one and lots of putty with the nurgle deamon prince and float him in the air with something on his back to represent that his legs just cant handle the weight any more. Im leaning twards Slaanesh with the Barron's indulgence tendencies and I recall a sceene in the original movie the Baron had a Dr. Working on him and he said he had such beuty.

Slaanesh isnt always about good looks, he also does bad looks, ya know people that get so much work done they end up looking like a train wreck. Thats how i see the Baron even though his bloated state is from him being poisioned.

Really cool idea!  I'm working on a Demon Prince myself.  Going with a marine that is in the process of transforming into the demon and working in my DIY loyalist marine paint scheme.  Hoping I can get it done before the MC event, but that is pretty ambitious wtih the amount of converting.  Looking forward to seeing how yours comes out.

why thank you! Have always been a Dune Fan and I love the line the Emerpor says "Bring in the floating fat man!" such a cult classic flick.

Now I thank every one for suggestions BUT problem is I need to show power armor still. I was thinking of going the 2nd Ed Deamon prince route and make him out of a standard sized lord, I think the Nurgle Lord from Fantasy would be a good base and combine that with the new raptor kit. Use putty on the uper torso to model some power armor.

Less....Mr. Suza would like to help me with this little endevor, my OCD with GW polotics wants me to make the model out of mostly citadel parts. Bill feel free to PM me I know I can be vouched for by Sam when it comes to projects :)

Lastly What gear should the floating fan man have? Originaly I was going to give him lightning claws just for simplicity sake but now im not so sure.

Ok my Plan A: Is to kit bash the Fantasy Nurgle Lord with the chaos Raptor kit, put him on a clear post and put it on a MC base decorating the base with bleeding out bodies. But i think people may cry modeling for advantage on that. Any one have ideas? Bill ill take you up if your group there can help me out in a pinch. Ill do all the painting.
