Let's remain civil. There really isn't any reason to resort to insulting intelligence.

@Achillius: I don't understand the hostility. Anyway, please read the rule a few times. Unlike the other characters, there is no replacement. Units lose combat tactics. Your army gains the benefit.

No, you misread exasperation for hostility. I find this topic to be absurd in the extreme. And am very surprised to see it come back up again. Nothing personal at all. As I mentioned, I believe you're wrong :), but if a Tournament organizer, or we see a GW FAQ ruling otherwise, I'll play it.

Cheers,
A

This is just a rules discussion,
[----removed other stuff------]
Do people think it would be a good idea to get together and come up with a list of house rules not covered in INATFAQ and GW's? With the stores blessing, if they are willing to do this?

See this is the problem with INAT. INAT is done by a rules lawyer not by GW, why is that an issue? because the boys at GW, figure that for something that's targetted at a particular race, and is about a race, will be played that way and not taken as gospel.

When this becomes a professional issue and there's millions of dollars prize money at stake let me know and I'm there until then, or If I play at a highly competitive Adepticon type environment, great. I don't. I play at battle ground. Where I know people don't measure well, and roll like crap. and this is exactly what its supposed to be a game. Played by normal people who can communicate and get over the lack of exclusions in a rule book.

Simple, and no-rules lawyers, let's keep it that way.

ok, here we go again:

the twin linking of YOUR army's weapons, etc, applies to YOUR ARMY (ie: what YOU have taken on your list, which constitutes half the team). your teammates army is NOT YOUR ARMY. it's that simple.

as far as an allied unit gaining the benefits, it's unbelievably vague. i would have to say that they do benefit from it, but also completely disagree with the logic behind it.

the chooser of the slain works against INFILTRATORS. im pretty sure that even though a unit may have the rule INFILTRATE, it isnt infiltrating when it OUTFLANKS. i would, under any circumstance, define an INFILTRATOR as a unit which is actively using the INFILTRATE rule as it is defined in the codex, not as a unit which simply posesses it.

Paul: you are absolutely right regarding teammates. That blatantly contradicts what is written.

Also, I think you convinced me regarding the choser. Great point.

As a spacewolf player I am inclined to give my army anything and everything.  But I am in agreement that it works against infiltrators, infiltraiting and not out flanking.  The special ability is meant for the begining of the game to stop someone from crossing enemy lines.  And in no way should it affect a squad moving on the outskirts of the battle to gain an outflank.

Although if you read the description of outflank

During deployment, players may declare that units with the 'scout' or 'infiltrate' special rules are attempting to outflank the enemy" (pg.94)

Then I am inclined to believe that outflank is an ALTERNATE form of setup and does indeed fall under the chooser of the slain rule.  If the staement DURING DEPLOYMENT was not there then I would not question it.  So if this is the case then chooser also works for outflanking.

I can see both sides of the argument and think Jeff has a good point in trying to come up with a solid set of house rules to avoid any drama.

Jake was telling me he plans to write them in an effort to clear up some rulings.  When I see him next I'll ask him about it.

Unless things have changed for the so-called GW rules helpline, they have no bearing what-so-ever on the rulings. You can e-mail them and I can e-mail, we will get 2 different answers unless we get the same person replying to us. GTs and the such do not abide by those rulings as well, basically if it doesn't come from a FAQ or Eratta(however it is spelled) it doesn't come from GW. And it works exactly as Paul stated, is the unit tring to INFILTRATE or OUTFLANK? If it is Infiltrate then roll that D6 to see if you can, if it is Outflanking then Roll that D6 to see where it pops out from and continue with the game. Thats my reading of it and until I see an update in a FAQ how I will be using it when I play my RunePriest since its 10pts for one extra attack in HtH as well(which is the real reason I allways purchase it for him :P)
