Who and where did that blood angles standard army come from, and if they were there before me would I not have to play them?

The blood angels army was not there before, so I believe both you have to play a planetfall scenario since you landed on the same tile at the same time.

If I had to guess, that Blood Angels token would be me, arriving from the warp.  Hello!

If that's true then there would having to be a planetfall scenario, but because there is no wing to defend the descending standard army, does that mean the standard is automatically destroyed?

The rules don't say anything about two armies descending on the same tile, at the exact same time.. might need Paul to answer this one.

This same thing happened to Capone and I on Volcanis. It was 2 Ground Armies landing at the same time and same tile. We were told to play a normal ground vs ground with the loser getting bumped over a tile unless we were knocked below 500 and routed and only since we were both landing in no mans land. I would assume same scenario with the looser being bumped up to tile 3. As always kindly await an official ruling.

The difference here is that its a planetfall scenerio with a wing vs a defenseless standard.. unless the BA are in the millennium falcon, I can't envision a defenseless transport in high orbit getting past an enemy air force. The ruling should be indeed be interesting.

Yeah, but if we're worried about the fluff of the thing, all of my units will be making planetfall in drop pods.  Paul should hopefully resolve this soon.

Well we're just focused on game mechanic clarification. But if we're talking fluff, then we're talking about an airborne dump truck, piloted by red power rangers, and armed with nothing more then cupcakes and water balloons.. somehow having the scientific capability to breach orbit while eating enemy air fire.

Yeaaa, I don't think the fluff is in your favor either  :o
