Very new and very interested

My name is Sean and I have recently found battlegrounds in Plainville. Along with MTG, i have come to find a new interest, warhammer 40k. I am extremely new and curious about warhammer 40k. I was wondering if I could demo with someone on thursday 9/5.
 Currently I do not have an army of my own, but I am enjoying the look and lore of the Blood Angels. It is my understanding that they are a mid to close range army, but they do have some range. I was curious as to anyone suggestions for a "shooter" style army. I am not ruling out any army, but am very curious to hear personal experiences. I appreciate any input, demo offers etc. I enjoy going to battlegrounds randomly through out the week. I am hard to miss tall and tattooed. Please feel free to message me on here or if you see me at the store and lets chat, I am always up for learning new stuff.

Hey Sean,

If your looking for a shooter army you can't do much better than Tau right now, very strong shooting and army in general.

Other options for shooter type armies are...

Imperial Guard if your looking for a more... human approach
Eldar, another xeno army but strong shooting
Dark Eldar

All the various space marine armies have decent mid range shooting, come down on a thursday or during a tournament to see a lot of different armies in action

Hey Sean!  What an amazing time to be taking an interest in 40k!

I am basically positive that we can get you a demo on Thursday, 9/5.  If for whatever reason we can't arrange a game for you, you should definitely come and hang out on Saturday, 9/7.  It's Space Marine launch day as well as our Bitz Bonanza and Paint & Take.  Lots of the guys will be hanging out around the store or stopping by that day.  It'll be a great opportunity to talk about the game, meet new people, and grab a free Space Marine or two, and paint later in the day.

This Saturday is also "Magic Celebration 2013" (aka Free Pack Day), so there's that.  ;)

Let's get Sean a demo!  He's a super nice dude.

I would love to demonstrate the righteous fury of the Blood Angels to you!  I'm available on Thursday and Saturday, and plan on spending both in Plainville.  Let me know which works better for you, and I'll bring my Lamenters (Blood Angels successor, Drop Pod based army) and my Blood Angels army (a mix of all kinds of things, mostly short to medium ranged shooting, and close combat oriented).  I can also bring my OTHER Blood Angels army (which I won in a raffle) that is nearly all Jump Pack based.  See you soon!
