Ok looking at  the bundles GW is selling I got a crazy idea for a mega battle. 10 players representing the 10 companies. 1st being terminators, stern guard vanguard and venerable dreads , 2-6 standard battle companies, captain, command squad, 6 tac squads, 2 assault squads 2 devistator squads 3-4 dreadnoughts. 7th 10 squads of tac marines and a captain,  8th 10 squads of assault marines and a captain, 9th 10 squads of devistators and a captain, finally 10th 10 squads of scouts and a captain.

I think the Warriors Ultimar can take those Battle Mega fools. But eh no one has the dough to make a company, mine took years. One could only dream of how epic the slaying of tyranids would be using the 10 companies of Ultramarines.

Speaking of mega battles... am i remembering right that BG is no longer running them and it's a community run thing now?

Not entirely correct. The Megabattle is going to happen again and will be run by the store, they were taking 2013 off from it. I had heard of a community run one but I don't know if anything came of it.

Fine. Minotaurs then! They usually deploy in chapter strength fluff wise any way.

Right next mega battle has been delayed due to the upcoming apocalypse release. There is a group tasked with reviewing the rules and options for the Mega battle, but they're not doing much right now as it's all about to change.

As far as I know there are already at least four Companies capable of being fielded in Abington, 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 7th.

I need to add another Tactical Squad and some Land Speeders to complete 7th.

Just to shed some light on the Megabattle thing for the people at home, it has been discussed a non-zero amount.  As discussion got rolling so did the rumors that we'd see Apoc v6.0 this summer.  This caused us to put it on the back burner.  Progress to that point was pretty good and I expect that a fair amount of stuff that was discussed to apply even after the new rules land.

As the new version of Apocalypse energizes the 40k community I expect the "small council" of Megabattle planners to start exploring options and getting things squared away.  Also, we'll have a deadline to meet as of later this week!!

10 devastator squads sounds awesome, but I shudder to think of fielding 100 terminators at the cost of $1000.

They may not be Ultramarine Terminators but I was very close to this at one point.

haha i was only kidding around. But we have access to that many scouts, devastators and terminators?

20+ scouts from me if needed to be borrowed

I to would like to see all 10 companies be fielded  next mega battle. I will have to buy some assualt squads to make it happen for my 6th company since mine are kinda damaged.

As for heavy weapons
3 plasma
4-5 lascannons
4-5 heavy bolters
4-5 missle launchers.
