Who told Privateer Press that I quit this game? This is exactly what it will take to get me back into it. I was going to convert G.U.A.R.D. figs into Voltron but now I'll just wait

Macross and most Transformers are not the same Scale as Voltron. This makes me wonder if we will see other Movie and T.V show giants. Godzilla, Kingkong, Gundam?

Voltron was a poor man's generic version (to some degree) of Transformers.  Transformers is the Americanized Macross.  That's why I mentioned all three.

That said, thank you for the reminder on scale.  I should refer to http://www.merzo.net/ as that shows most of the common SF ships we all know and love and depicts them to scale.

that site has BFG ships scaled incorectly. The imperial captial ships are much bigger. also where are you getting your information that Voltron came before Transformers? Im also not sure if robotech even came out first. I think Robo Tech and Voltron might have been simotanious. Regaurdless I doubt we will be seeing the Transfomers or Robotech in this game

I'm sorry Steve but I think you are confused (I didn't say Voltron came before Transformers, sorry if I implied it did).  And, Macross did come first of these.  Strongly inspired by Space Battleship Yamato.  Macross inspired the American Robotech.  Robotech inspired Transformers (a knock off of a Japanese version, and Transformers along with most of the '80s cartoons we all love were made possible by Ronald Reagan).  Transformers caused Go-Bots to come into existence along with Voltron and most of the other major big robot or "combining" cartoons/fads/nostalgia pieces we know.

So I guess it actually all goes back to Space Battleship Yamato.  Oh and here's some dates (can we guess what I spent my childhood doing?).

Space Battleship Yamato 1974
Macross 1982
Transformers September 1984 (although more exactly 1983 for the toys by Takara, which predate significantly the animated series and note the direct relationship between Jetfire and Macross)
Voltron October 1984
Gobots 1984 (1983 for the toys, after Hasbro introduced Takara's stuff as Transformers) and then 1986 for the film
Robotech 1985

I guess this is my roundabout way of saying that these all draw their influence from anime so yay anime!

Steve I know you enjoy anime and Voltron so you should check out Beast King GoLion and Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV.  Those are both credited as being the direct cause of Voltron although it was inspired by the genre and form used by Macross (inspired by Space Battleship Yamato), which inspired Transformers.  Talk about a convoluted history.

Regarding that site the owner has a FAQ at http://www.merzo.net/faq.htm.  That may be helpful to determine how he came about the sizes he did.  I don't remember what the BFG fluff lists for actual sizes but 7.5km sounds about right to me but don't quote me on that.

Sorry for being terse in this thread.  In the grand scheme of things none of this matters anyway.

So there's a Voltron film coming out?  Who is starring in it?  Might be interesting.

Only when he, along with Maggie Thatcher and John Paul the Great, wasn't saving the world from the spread of Communism.

Actually, he deregulated advertising towards children allowing the toy companies to market directly to the kids.  Prior to his big change the companies had to market to what they believed parents wanted for their children.  His deregulation of this has long been panned as a bad thing for children.  Whatever one's position on this (and other political things in this post such as Communism, which on paper works quite fine) it did allow for all of the main '80s cartoons to come into existence as they were vehicles to sell more toys.  G.I. Joe, Transformers, Masters of the Universe, etc.  This is what I learn when I read The Real Toy Story by Eric Clark (do a search for ISBN 9780743247658 on http://www.worldcat.org to see if your local library owns it).  Fascinating book for those interested in toys and their history.

What game Steve?  There's a Voltron game?  Or, are you maybe talking about Monsterpocalypse (only game I can think of with a tie in to Voltron).  I believe you can buy singles on eBay.
