Fine Tuning my Ork Army 1500 points, help please
« on: April 24, 2013, 05:59:43 PM »
I am not sure I should have started this as a new post I apologize if it belongs under something. I Just started playing and I have a basic Ork build I think I will be going with, Please tell me what you think.

This army is 1500 points, I am concerned about flyers So this is what i came up with for a fairly well rounded army.

Aegis Defense line: Gun Emplacement (Quad Gun) This should help against air combo with my lootas

Ghazghkull Thraka (warlord) He is simply a beast And i will put him a unit with meganobs
4x Meganobz:  Shoota/rokkit Kombi-weapon x3, Shoota/Skorcah Kombi-Weapon x1
Battlewagaon: Deff Rolla, Red Paint Job, Rokkit Launca x4, Killkannon

Lootas x10

Lootas x10
Big Mek: Kustom Force Field, bosspole

shoota boyz x30 including 1 nob with bosspole

shoota boyz x30 including 1 nob with bosspole

Thats the build, It fields 60 ork boyz, 20 lootas and a pretty nasty squad with the meganobz, Ghazghkull Thraka and the Battlewagon that should put up a tone of damage.  Any and all feedback welcome good or bad, the more the better.

Ps I would attach the pdf but it does not show that as an option under Attachments and other options at the bottom.

If you can do 3 squads of 20, you'll field the same number of models, but be more flexible.

I like the kombi-scorchas more than anything else, given Orks' notoriously low BS.

Flyers aren't worth building around. Build your army to do what it does, because Flyers are going to do what they're going to do. Of course, you could take Dakkajets. :)

I think Lootas are already pretty awesome against Flyers.  They're built around shooting a lot of shots, hiting poorly.  Yeah, they only hit Flyers on 6's, but they only hit on 5's normally, so what do they care?

Dunno that the quad gun actually helps you all that much, other than it has interceptor.  What's the Best BS orks have in the entire army?

Just a couple of suggestions

Lootas+Wall of Awesome=Win

Ghazzy is a beast, but you are paying for his special rules which are not all that great right now.  I would drop him to just a Mega Armoured Warboss.  IMO Kombi-Rokkits are a waste with our BS.  1 shot at BS 2 is meh.  Kombi-Skorchas are awesome though.

BWs are great, but it is always better to run 2.  Orks are all about giving your opponent too much stuff to shoot at.  1 BW is a fire magnet.  Deff Rollas are great, but RPJ really isn't worth it anymore.  For what you get with the Killakannon, it is just too expensive and not all that good (way to short a range and no where near strong enough).  I have tried running Boomwagons and have always been disappointed.  I prefer my BWs to run with a Deffrolla and 4 Big Shootas...lots of shots coming out of it.  If you really want to run a Boomwagon, you want the 'ard Case upgrade.

Ben is right, go 3 squads of 20 boys.  Better for objectives.  In my 1850 list I run 5 squads of 20.

You might want to look at groups of Kannons.  Anti armor/horde for cheap points.  I typically fill my 3 heavy slots with them.  9 Str 8 shots a turn from T7 grots for 180 points is one of the best bargains in the codex.  Hide them behind the wall of awesome and you can have a bs3 grot firing the quad gun.

Dakkajets are awesome, if a bit overpriced for what they are.  I think when we get a new codex they will be coming down in price (unless the stormchicken and Valkyrie shoot up in price).  But like everything else, if you are going to bring them, bring two.

I used to run a MA Warboss and a KFF Big Mek as my HQs.  I find myself running a Warphead (Waaaghs, make Dakajets better) and a SAG Big Mek (which are just fun).

Thanks for all the feedback, Ok so this is what my army looks like now

Aegis Defense lines: Gun Emplacement quad-gun

Ghazghkull Thraka, warlord (I would like to try him, 7 attacks on a charge at plus one str is pretty good, plus the 4 W)

Meganobz: shoota/skorcah kombi-weapon x4
Battlewagon: Big Shoota x4, Kannon

2 sets of 10 lootas
Big mek: KFF bosspole

19 boyz: Big shoota x2
1 Nob (and posspole)

19 boyz: Big shoota x2
1 Nob (and posspole)

20 Boyz: big shoota x2

Big Gunz x 3,  Kannon

ok so I went with the 3 set of 20 however I could not get nobs in all 3 sets. I did get rid of all the fluff on my Battlewagon, I did keep the battlewagon because Meganobz cant run so i figure its needed. I added the 3 Big Gunz.

I was able to get the 3 set of ork boyz with nobs by just running  2x shoota/skorcah kombi-weapons on my meganobz.
