Please help me! Cron player with SM list

I have been a long time cron player (if you don't know me I am the 4 Plylon and 15,000 pt colletor guy from megabattle) and I have grown into two other armies; Orks and Marines. I come to you guys in hopes of some help with my space marine list. I have put some thought into it and think I may have some understanding of the codex. However, I have played crons for the better part of 13 years and know that marines are very different. Please comment on my list and give honest feed back. I am starting at the basic 1500 knowing that I will tank spam with more troops and flyers at the 2000 pt bracket. I welcome any and all feed back. Thanks!

3 man honnor guard with banner

1x Dreadnought with CC arm and Autocannon

5x Sternguard all with combi flamers and drop pod

5x Sternguard all with combi flamers and drop pod

10x Tactical with flame and ML in Rhino

10x Tactical with flame and ML in Rhino

10x Tactical with flame and ML

1x Vindicator

Runs at the 1495 pt range

All HQ togeather with a sternguard

there are a lot of power armor armies out there so I'd consider combi meltas over the flamers, that way you still get assault weapons you can fire and charge in the same turn; but I guess it would all depend on the armies you face regularly.

Also I feel like I'm in the minority here, but I don't care so much for autocanons, I think the TL lascanon on the dreadnought is a better option.

the space sharks will have to wait a bit longer ben. latest intel puts it as last codex this year

You want drop pods in odd numbers to take the best advantage of drop pod assault. You will probably get first blood easier with the meltas

It SHOULD be the last book of the year.  Stuff I've heard tells me that SM are next, for better or worse.

Probably because Vanilla marines it has to compete with newer* power armored armies like:

Codex: Chocolate Werewolves (SW)
Codex: Rasberry Vampires (BA)
Codex: Dark Chocolate Chaos
and lets not forget Codex: Blueberry Jedi (GK)

People will start drinking Vanilla again when GW adds some more sprinkles

Ok, so from the replies that where on topic I can see what you mean by swaping out the flames for melta. Let me ask then, each guard would be shooting a S8 Ap 3 rapid fire gun once during the game? That could hurt more than flame temp.  I have been going back and forth about swaping out the 3 honnor guard for an Lib. Should I? As a cron player the more models on the table the better off you are, and I may still be thinking numbers here. 3>1. Thoughts?
