Fantasy League: Hero Bash 3/23
« on: March 17, 2009, 12:42:32 AM »
So we are going to wrap the League up with a good, ol' fashion beat down!

Start Time:   Monday night right after we wrap up the "Build" phase of week 5 and distribute the prizes support.  Dice will probably roll around 8:00pm.

Entrance Fee:   $5 - All of which will go out in prize support.

So bring the finest warrior from your faction... following these rules of course:

A Non-character that costs no more than 250 points before upgrades.
You can equip him/her with no more than 200 points of magic items.
The Hero can total no more than 400 points.
No multi-wound mounts.
No additional models can be brought to the table through any means.  (No Zombies, sorry :()
If you fail to take an aggressive action (moving at least your speed in the direction of combat) you take a d3 wounds.

Some of these rules are subject to change....

so, by non-character you mean no special characters? and the model we bring can (and probably will) be a lord, right?

so you guys are ending the league at week 5?  I thought the plan was to run until someone got the magic winning number of happiness in tile form?? Or did someone already achieve that goal?

Another quick question on the spells allowed in the hero bash.  I know you said that summoning was not going to be allowed but what about spells that have a primary ability and a summoning secondary.

Case in point Winds of Undeath, which is a global spell hitting all enemies on the table.  On 4+ the target takes a wound and this would create a spirit host with that many wounds.  Is that allowed as long as you don't make a spirit host or is the whole spell out??

Yeah, we are just about certain that the league will have a winner (a player with 12 tile points) at the end of the "Build" phase of next weeks meeting.  This would end the league after 5 weeks.

As far as spells like that go, I think its fair to allow them so long as no additional units (models) end up on the table at any point.  Cast the spell, get the effect, field no addtional models seem fine...  Afterall, youre getting "less" than you "paid for."  Right?

That spell seems pretty fricken good btw.

Do normal limitations apply for magic item selection; as in only 1 of each type can be taken (one armor, one enchanted, etc)?

I would say yes, but with a 200pt limit, so if you had 100pt armor or weapon then you could field that with another 100pts to spare in which you could spend it on a single weapon, enchanted item, etc...

I don't know what unit champions are, so I can't make the call right now.  I'll ask someone when I get to the store.

As far as magic items go... Please stick to the normal rules as far as selecting gear goes.  You can't have two sets of armor because it doesn't make any sense.  You can't have 7 swords either.  etc etc.

Unit champions are simply rank and file units that have been upgraded to unit leaders.  They tend to have one additional attack, or one stat better than the units they are leading.  But, why would you want to bring a unit champ to a hero bash?  Seems like bringing a super soaker to a gun fight.

If by supersoaker you mean having it filled with saline solution and hooked up to a transformer...

Rhinox riders :P.

I'll be bringing a Tyrant... or a Slaughtermaster, haven't decided.

Don't you have the option to field one of your leaders on a Fagnox?

I totally wouldn't mind if you brought a rhinox rider, but i think that one of the rules is that there are no terror causing monstrous mounts. but that is up to everyone else...

I say bring on the rhinox

I was advised to not allow multi-wound mounts.  If the Rhinox thing has 1 wound, bring it on.
