Epic 40k
« on: March 03, 2009, 11:23:14 PM »
Hey.  I've been thinking about getting into Epic 40k and I was wondering if there are alot of players in the area and if it's a worthwhile game to try out.

Thanks

Chase

Paul G and Rob have Epic armies.  I'll point them in this direction when I see them next.

As Chase said, two of us currently have decently sized armies.  Paul with Orks (of course) and me with Imperial Guard (and a box of squats too).  I know that John (Commissar Grey on the boards) also has one, but has yet to read up on the new rules.  Paul and I love it, and I'm always looking for a game.  With the cheap price compared to other GW games, I'd personally say it'd be great to get into. What armies are you thinking of?

I've already bought a chunk of a space marine army.  I have a couple bases of devastators, some rhinos, some land raiders, and some dreadnaughts (kind of an eclectic mix... thank you ebay).  I was thinking of purchasing some stuff of the GW site, unless you guys know of anywhere I could get the models cheaper.  Does Battleground sell them?  If i asked one of the guys could they order them or something?

I've got a ton of Epic Marines and their vehicles on sprues from the boxed set which I don't see me using anytime soon.  Would you be interested in a "trade" of sorts?  If not, I believe Chase can order what you are looking for from GW.  Let me know.

I would be very interested in a trade.  Are you thinking money or something else?  I have very few epic miniatures, but I have some 40k stuff I might be willing to swap if you're interested.  I just sold my old ork army, but I kept some of the stuff and I'd be willing to swap that (let me warn you, it's not much stuff) and I have a shitload of bits from a bunch of different armies.
Also, what does a boxed set consist of?  Is it a battle company, or is it other stuff?

And if you need to get anything else, I know that last time I checked the store can order any current SG things.  They're the same price, you don't have to pay shipping, and the store profits.  Seems like an all around good thing, eh?

I don't know whether or not I know you, BobMOTU.  Care to enlighten me on how I'd recognize you in the store?  :)

Ian, as far as I know there aren't any Necrons for Epic or a listing for them on GW's Specialist Games.

BobMOTU, I have two of the Epic 40K boxed games, one of which was a friends.  There is a decent selection of models:  Land Raiders, Rhinos, Land Speeders, Dreadnoughts, Bikes, Terminators, Devastator, Assault, Tactical, Scout squads, HQ and Characters.  Some are assembled and primed black.  If you would like to see them, I will bring them with me the next time I'm at BG (18MAR09).  We can talk about a trade of sorts.

I haven't played 40K in a while but have both a Space Marine and Imperial Guard Army.  I have been playing A&A Minis, War At Sea and Flames of War.

Ian, there are Necron rules on the SG website.  They are community made (which a large portion of epic is now - supported by the community) and I haven't seen any cries of cheesiness.  So I assume they're fairly balanced.

Modelwise, most people use the now OOP Chaos Androids.  Here is a picture of a "40k scale Epic game"... sort of an inverted Apocalypse.  It shows a homemade pylon and a lot of good epic necrons.

You can see the Chaos Androids, and I believe the destroyers were just made out of putty or something.

Well, I don't really want to part with my space marines or guard if at all possible.  I am willing to pay cash for the stuff.  I'm trying to amass as many guard and marines as possible so I can play 10,000 point games with my friend... actually... I have a 50 or so catachans, and some (like, 10) steel legion.  Interested?

I think I'm set with 40K minis.  Maybe you can see what I have and then we can decide what to do?  Will you be around Wednesday (18MAR09) after 6?

wednesdays are tough/impossible for me.  ummm....  Would you be able to do Friday the 20th?  I could probably make it up to the store then.  I can't promise anything though until probably monday of next week.  Weekdays are kinda tough because I have school and my parents aren't to keen on me going up to the store on weekdays.  I'm relatively certain I could do the 20th.  What are you thinking for a ballpark estimate so I know how much cash to bring?
