I have always wanted to get my paws on a heavy Crisis suit army and paint it with a more anime color spectrum because they remind me so much of Gundam. But I got my minotaurs to worry about right now and im enjoying painting them.

Well... I should be able to resist buying any Tau stuff because clearly they're "good guys".  Although that Riptide is just badASS.  Hrmph.

I love what I'm hearing of rules (except str 8 broadsides). I love how the riptide looks, love it's rules too, but yeah, $85?!?  Wtf!?!  If it was $60 I might have bought two. And no, LRs are not reasonable at that cost either.

Don't love the flyer thing (feel like they're taking the fish thing too far, and the struts are weird) but I don't hate it, and I'm liking what I'm hearing of its rules.

REALLY disappointed they're not re-doing crisis suits. Ankles are bad, very bad.

It all looks pretty nice, but I agree that the fish theme is a bit too prevalent.

Is there a reason for these prices increases? I'm rather out of touch with the inner workings of GW, but is it possible they have a justified reason for upping prices so much? Or is this just the maximization of profit in the short term?

This open-letter video in response to Games Workshop restricting online sales two years ago is still relevant. If you pay attention, you can see the Games Workshop reasoning for why they would increase prices.

The man speaking here understands Games Workshop's positions, but he also has a firm grip on reality.

I'm thinking of using this for the flyer.  Yes, about 50% more expensive, but at least it won't look so expensive.

What do you guys think, think that'll pass?

Matt you didn't put a link in or Picture so noone can judge what this is.

As for Games-Workshop

They are restricting even more for the online and independent sellers it seems like.

I remember seeing Miniwargamings open letter a while back and I agreed with it a lot. Unfortunately Games Workshop is going to keep doing what they want until we stop buying at all.

Much nicer looking than the GW flyer, and the size is probably about the same judging by the size of the gun drones and the how small the new flyer looks on a flying base in the white dwarf pics.

The main reason i never got into tau is while the suits are awesome looking i could never get over how the vehicles look like Naboo rejects from the Phantom Menace

I must admit, that is a very nice looking flyer.

I like Tau...just not enough to drop that much money on a new army....Maybe if the Riptide looked like the SDF-1 Macross and the Crisis Suits all looked like Valkyries....

.....

.....

Hmmmm, maybe I should start looking at Anime shops again...I might be able to make that happen.

I totally support Gundam/Robotech Tau.  It's been done before, which in noway means it shouldn't be done again.

I love the traditional Tau tanks, though.  I picked Tau as my first army almost completely on the look of hammerheads.

Hover tanks are cool.

Thought this guy seemed interesting if true:

Cadre Fireblade -
IC with split fire, markerlight, supporting fire, volley fire (+1 shot for Pulse Rifles/Carbines if unit and IC do not move).
Upgrade for Fire Warrior units - not sure if an actual IC or just has LoS! properties, etc.

I'm hesitant of the new codex, I'm crossing my finger's that the pink tau might see some more play.

I'm not very concerned about the cost of the army, $75 for 3 crisis cuits seems pretty good. $85 for the Riptide suit won't be that big of a deal imo, as GW seems to almost always base the monetary value of a kit by points cost. Rumor is the base cost of the Riptide will be 165 pts with only plasma, add additional weapons and equiptment and I bet the thing can easily get to 200-250 points. That is my educated guess why it costs so much, it will eat up a huge chunk of the army list.. in an 1850 game you won't see anyone field more then one.

After letting the prices digest, I guess it's no worse than normal.  Crisis Suits right now are 24.75 if you can find them anywhere (they're no longer available, obviously).  They've been that price for a long time.  After the new models come out I'd imagine you'll get better sculpts and be forced to buy 3 of them.  It could be better, but it's not much of a price "increase."

The Riptide is absolutely awesome... and because of that you now pay as if it were a Stormraven, I suppose.  I hope that it's auto-include because it looks so awesome and may attract people to the game.  I just REALLY wish the cost of entry was lower. :(

You think it is awesome now...wait until the Orks start looting it.

If Mega-Dreads are in the New Ork Codex, my Boyz are gonna loot that thing hard.  Actually, if my Orks start looting more Tau Tech (like my Looted Hammerhead) I could have Tau allies that are really are Orks....
