« on: March 16, 2013, 11:48:09 PM »
Here are pictures of the new White Dwarf announcing of the new Tau Dex and the new ridiculous GW pricing....

I wonder how much the new stuff I am going to have to buy for my Orks are going to set me back.

They are on the boxes for the kits.

$85 Riptide (which looks cool enough that I need to buy one and loot it into a Mega-Dread)
$65 Flyer
$35 Pathfinder Kit
$75 Crisis Suits (3)
$50 Broadside (1)

I just saw that on natfka and the super suit does look cool but at $85? Guess it's as much plastic as a land raider. I don't play tau but all of that looks a bit steep, maybe GW is doing a surprise price increase like last june?

Well...

The models are awesome looking.  Seriously awesome looking... But come-the-fuck-on, GW.

This is so irritating.

And scary.

For a good long time in Plainville, Tau were the most played army by miles. Wonder if they'll return in force?

I can't tell you how much I miss playing 40k, but I don't miss the prices, I quite enjoy actually having money now.

wow that might be the worst value battleforce of all time. GW needs to smarten up or they are going to price the younger generation right out of this hobby

Hell not just the younger generation.  DA prices convinced me to convert everything I needed for my Ravenwing Army instead of buying new stuff.

I really have liked Tau since I was introduced to Warhammer 40k with the Dawn of War games...but when the better looking FW Broadside is THE SAME PRICE as the mass market GW Broadside, something is seriously wrong.  I know that I am not a business person, but even I understand killing the new section of your market for a short term profit is not the way to run a business keyed for the long term.

Frankly I am surprised the flyers are at the 65$ price point instead of the 75$ point all the new flyers have been.  I am assuming that all the battleforces are going to be jacked up to 130$ this year.  Hell I am sure grots are going to be 30$ for 10 pretty soon.  Fortunately, the far superior Basiks Soviet Grots are cheaper than that.  I see myself buying more and more Warmachine stuff than GW stuff in the future.

lol i didn't even think of that. Just looked and FW is actually cheaper clocking in at $45 after the conversion rate (not counting shipping)

i wonder how long GW is going to continue to sell their Broadside upgrade kit which is $15 bucks which add on a $25 crisis suit and you've got a $40 dollar Broadside

so in closing

New GW broadside $50
Old GW crisis suit + broadside upgrade pack $40
FW broadside $45

shaking my head GW...

Yeah its rough Chase with the price stuff.

I mean seriously if that riptide is awesome and you end up wanting 2 or 3 seriously $250. As far as Ravenwing 1 10 man Black Knight squad $200 etc. GW is kicking ass as far as rules, releases and models (minus failcast) but they are testing the community a bit with the bullshit prices.

Keep in mind, how many Riptides are you going to actually need?
I'm guessing 1.
The low demand in the long run balances the price in the long term.
As for the Broadsides it's the same thing.
Serious Tau players already have 6-9 of them.  I'm likely to buy 1, maybe.

The Pathfinder box?  Reasonably priced, same with the flyers.
