Painting your models

Not to entirely defend him..but usually someone who nit pics grammar really doesn't want to confront the discussion and would like to end the discussion...picking another topic to discuss rather than the one being discussed...

He does bring up good points that reasonable people should be able to discuss without personally attacking each other..which is what I have been trying to do.

I mean the question really is, we all know a table of fully painted (didn't say painted well) models looks better, attracts more attention to the hobby, is a known part of the hobby, and makes the experience better....so if you are just looking for a game you can open up and play, why not play one that takes less time, has very strategic rules, is ready out of the box, and costs a fraction of the price?

You should probably stop making nonsensical arguments and paint your models. Btw games workshop makes the game. So... I would probably play it the way they designed it to get the maximum out of it? Makes sense to me.

Alright ill bite.

As a serious Grand Tourny Player and overall tourny dog I see the value of a fully painted army.  Especially when GT's will not you let you play without one.  Painting is a requirement at any GT.  However when I test lists I dont bother even trying to paint them as most of the time I will change the list 30 times before i cement it for a GT.  So my test games will be lastic or proxies.  Does this mean I do not take pride in my army?  No it doesnt as my Tourny armies are all painted and done.

This is one example of playing with plastic or unpainted models..  So to say I dont take pride in my army and throw false accusaions because you see my unpainted army (IN A CASUAL GAME) is not correct and defintely not factual.  As you dont have all the facts.

And this makes sense..what doesn't make sense is in the 20 or so visits to the store, I have seen maybe 3 painted armies..painted well too..but that is it? Why so few? Is the battlegrounds a staging area for tournaments? Do most players use the store to test armies?

I just started getting into Warhammer 40K myself (aah! A n00b! lol), but one of the things that got me interested in the game was the idea that I could be creative with how I painted my models. Not that I would paint my necrons bright purple or something, but the fact that I *could* if I wanted to is kinda nice.

Yeah, I could've gone w/ a much cheaper game (and there are several available) - but I wanted to do a game that not only has more than a couple people playing it, but also lets you be creative in the design (how you pose your models, construct them, AND paint them)

I don't think he is trolling - it's okay to disagree with him, that's the point of a discussion. But trolling isn't JUST posting an idea you disagree with, it's making points that don't make ANY sense/have NO logic OR truth, JUST for the point of ticking people off. He's clearly not *JUST* trying to tick people off, he's just trying to figure out why people would spend the money for the Warhammer game (b/c it's not cheap) and then not use it to its full potential.

This is not a GW store.  If you don't like not seeing painted armies, that is your own hang up.  You dont HAVE to goto BG, you dont HAVE to see that happen.  You CAN stop being an awful poster who is being insulting to a community that has been around forever and tries to caters to ALL player types.  If you dont like it, dont come.

That is awesome that you are working it that way, but the way you do it is not for everyone.  There are no REQUIREMENTS except for GTs and certain events, which means regardless of your view on aesthetics, people can do what they please until told otherwise.

Haven't started painting yet, but planning out different paint schemes & ideas I might like to use... just b/c necrons are almost the same color doesn't mean I can't be a little creative w/ it.
