Battleground Games & Hobbies in Plainville MA

Battleground is teaming up with the guys from DorkaMorka in an effort to increase Blood Bowl awareness in the area.

A couple Sunday's from now they'll be hosting a demo day in an effort to show interested people what it's all about.

Format: Demo Day - Just show up with an open mind, ready to learn!
Date: March 3rd, 2013 a Sunday
Time: 3:00pm
Entrance Fee: FREE!

Blood Bowl is the game of fantasy football. Throughout the Old World and beyond, teams of fearless warriors - known as Blood Bowl players - face each other on ritualised battlefields known as pitches. Their aim is to score as many touchdowns as possible in the time allowed. To score a touchdown a player must move an inflated pig's bladder - also known as a 'ball' - into the opposing team's end zone. The ball can be moved around the field in many ways from being kicked, carried thrown or even held by a thrown player! The opposing team will be trying to gain possession of the ball as well. They can do this by intercepting a ball from a throw, picking up the ball if it has become 'loose' or the far more frequent method of attacking the ball carrier! Over the years this hasn't stopped teams using this rule rather loosely, and many a player's armour is covered in sharp protruding spikes with blades and large knuckle-dusters attached to their gauntlets. The history of Blood Bowl is littered with the illegal use of weapons.

If you like the idea of becoming a coach in the most brutal sports game, with a team of hardened warriors and loyal cheerleaders, then Blood Bowl is for you.

If you're interested in scoping out the game before March 3rd, here are a couple resources you might like to check out.

Chase, thanks so much for posting this up!

Folks who are interested in learning, a few of us from DorkaMorka will be on hand with a selection of teams to try out and some demonstration of how the game works.

We are looking forward to meeting some new folks and finding some new coaches for gaming.

Peace,
Jim

If anyone who goes to this really ends up enjoying the game (and really, you should since it is AWESOME), there is also a tournament scheduled March 9th in Abington!

If you would like to learn to play, PM me and I will set something up with you.  I have teams to spare.

Glad to hear it!

FYI, I told Chase that if we can get enough interested parties that I will step in and help run a league out of Plainville.  Tell two friends to tell two friends :D

I'm a huge BB fan and haven't been able to play seriously in years. I told Chase where I came from we had 32 coaches ( 32!!!! ) and played a full NFL season with playoffs and all. Come on Plainville players lets do this. I'll bring my copy and teams so theres something going in Plainville as well on the 3rd, probably around noon.

A store league is the way to go. I'm happy to play a couple one-off games to help teach but you have to get your face "bloody" at some point.

Awesome, Ian.

I will have a hoard of painted teams and hopefully 3-4 of my DorkaMorka brethren in tow to help give some demo games.

Should be a fun time :)

Aww, man.  I've been playing the Blood Bowl videogame a lot the past week, and I've been really wanting to play the tabletop version; leave it to Battlegrounds to read my mind.

Hopefully I'll be able to put together a handful of sufficiently distinct Tomb King models to sub in for the actual player models I hope to eventually custom build.

I'm thinking...Warriors for Skeletons, Tomb Guard for Mummies, and Tomb Princes for Blitz-Ras?
"And the Smokin' Boots Award for most traitorous dice goes to..."

Thanks to those that came down to support this, and to Matt B for helping with some teaching games.

I hope to do this again in a few weeks.  If people have interest, please let me know.
