Thou doth protest too much. Its man dollies dude. Relax
Are you still whining?
Honestly, I think your whining over nothing. I highly doubt that someone is going to walk in to BG with a White Scars army of Jetbikes, or even a Primarch. For all we know, no-one could bring ANY HH models.
So he has a standard? Oh to be british "Oh why hello I'd like to save you a bunch on car insurance you big jerk you." So much control, such elegance. I think we can all learn something from today.
You see, there are kids who play 40k and don't listen to their parents when they say "gee kiddo those say ages 14 and up on it" and just play, then they get upset when the adults bring things from over seas that have melta cannons for a grand when they just spent their whole allowance on a new flyer. So as the adults here, lets all just calm down, have some tea, and then take that lil tugger "sir prometheus" for a big boy sundae at dairy queen, but no chocolate sauce, or he'll be bouncing up and down the walls tonight.
On another note, this event looks pretty cool. Just throwing it out there... neat stuff.
Why is it that the average "hobbyist" or "fluffy" gamers seem to get much more upset when challenged on some tenet they hold dear than those they accuse of being "Win At All Costs" gamers?
Seriously, my objection was only that Horus Heresy is a completely different game, and not meant to be mixed with normal 40k. I feel that point is quite clear, but I no longer want to contest you folks on it, because obviously you all care more than I do, and I hear from Chase that a few folks have full HH armies, and that's a work of passion that should get air time at some point. If I come, I'll be bringing my Shas'O Rymr model, who is probably overpriced, but I want to see actually get used as himself.
But now I'm pissed off, riled even, that so many of you saw fit to cause such a shit-storm, call me whiner, say it was obviously not my event, and a "lil tugger" (I suppose that is a variation on "wanker"?) I'll argue that it was not I who made it such a big deal, you all were.
You were trying make someone feel ashamed for bringing up what I think is a perfectly reasonable objection. Maybe you don't think it's a reasonable objection --though I really can't see how--, but so what? It's still just an objection. I didn't call any of you names, say your ideas were stupid, or that maybe you should play with "the real rules" of 40k or something obnoxious like that.
It entered this group beat-down peer pressure dynamic. I'm a little too old and a little too thick skinned to be really upset by that sort of thing, but I still think that's pretty sucky.
