Shooting Question
« on: December 15, 2012, 07:20:10 PM »
When choosing a target, can I shoot through enemies? Can I shoot scouts who are hiding behind a group of space  marines? Would this give them the 5+ cover save?

If you can draw line of sight to them, absolutely. Yes, they would receive a cover save.

I don't really agree with this rule. My thought is that, you send a meat shield of your army respected low cost troops (conscripts, cultists) and your expensive troops behind them. As long as the shooting player can see 50% of a unit without any other unit in the way, they can shoot at them. But otherwise, they are more concerned with the hoard of troops coming at them. The only units that are exempt from this rule are and snipers (scopes) blast template weapons, etc. Just my idea, but Ian was right btw, they get a 5+ save

I know it may be stupid....but could I do that in tournament play?

So if I am playing against a Tyranid player...can I shoot the Synapse creatures (Tyranid Warriors) hiding behind the Termagaunts?

Does that also apply to vehicles behind troops? Or just other troops?
Should the miserable Grot crews survive for long they will soon become deafened and have to resort to a rudimentary system of sign language. This is rarely successful as there are only so many signs a Grot can carry around with him.

It is "true" line of sight.

If you can see unit A through unit B you can shoot at unit A.

If you cannot see unit A through unit B you cannot not shoot at unit A.

Exactly, if you can see it, you can shoot it.

Probably not neccessary, but if a model can see it from the model's eyes (or along the gun barrel in the case of vehicles), the model can shoot it. You being able to see anything doesn't matter.
