Chaos Daemon army on Table 1 - Feast of Blades - Final round. Chaos Daemons have been on Table 1 for 6 out of 7 rounds with three different players!

i dont know a lot about daemons but 27 flamers and 27 screamers seems even cheesier than the Necron flying cricus

That list is unbeatable. There's no way it can be beaten. It will be undefeated for all time.

It's just like I've been saying. Daemons are the best codex going.

grey knights lots of strike squads and interceptors (warp quake) might help... a little bit.

I can easily table that list.

I don't believe in such a thing as an unbeatable list, with the huge diversity in codexes and armies some lists are just better suited for multiple opponents.

I guess this is an argument for comp points?

The 27 flamers and 27 screamers just "screams" cheese to me

Maybe i'm not seeing the other side of the coin, is a necron flying cricus list cheese? Sure, is an IG list with chimera/plasma spam cheese? Perhaps

I guess the difference is flamers and screamers are overpowered right now, i would hope if the daemons codex does drop in January the get nerfed... i suppose there is a chance since Matt Ward isn't writing it lol

From what I understand, this event had special rules and conditions that allowed every unit to be scoring or contesting units and that Troops would count as full strength for scoring even if knocked down to half strength. So, scoring Flamers AND scoring Screamers  :o

Seems the balance was off for the whole tournament due to this.

I have a hard time believing that a TO would just say "all units can capture objectives", and I doubt that happened.  I would like to see the actual rules packet.

Regardless, max flamers and screamers probably IS almost unbeatable for a lot of armies.  I've still been running the same 3 flamers and 6 screamers I've always had, but now, they almost always come in and destroy double their points' value before the opponent gets rid of em....   I posted on this very forum when their new rules were revealed, "are Daemons the new GK?"  It seems at list for this event, they were :)

ALL units had a scoring value, for capturing objectives, based on their point value, even units that were spawned by things like a Tervigon.

This seems to say that the non-troops units counted for the table quarters only, right?   The table quarters are done by victory points (as they were in the Nova) so it would make sense that non-scoring units counted for those.  That's a lot different than saying that Fast Attack units can capture actual objectives.

This ruleset actually contains a slight BUFF to troops for quarters, as troops always count for full value for quarters even when below half strength....

I'm not sure. I was reading it as ALL troops were scoring or contesting on objectives AND table quarters, and based on some of the things I have been reading about the event, that seems to be the case. Need to find someone who has first hand experience to confirm or deny this and please forgive my naivety as I am only recently returning to the game (and perhaps should not be commenting on tournaments at all  ;))

Regardless, and to the point I was attempting to point out...it is hard to judge the balance of an event compared to the rulebook or other events as, given the conditions for an event, one can tweak a list to exploit the scoring. Yes, the "unbeatable" list may be just that, but perhaps playing in a straight game of "Crusade" (from the rulebook) would make the list not so unbeatable (in terms of scoring).

Apparently no one picked my sarcasm. The unbeatable list is forever a myth. And I've never said the Daemon codex is the best.

You want to see that list beaten, let me play it. My dice are undefeated when it comes to self-defeat.

And as it stands, I think IG can smack the silly crap out of that list.

Daemons have been and still are amazing at destroying imperial guard. That being said; if anyone has 27 flamers and 27 screamers I really want to practice against it.
