So I had this idea about doing The Death Star Trench Battle from Star Wars. I just need to build 10 tower guns.
I think the tower guns should be 10 points each for 100 points of tower guns. Then the imperials would have another 100 points of fighters.
The towers would be square, about the same size as a fighter base. There would have to be a tower phase between the planning and activation phases. During that phase the towers can turn 90 degrees if they desire. The stats on the towers would be 4 hull points, no shields but if shot at, they can not dodge. The cannons would be 3 attack dice at range 1, 4 attack dice at range 2, and 5 attack dice at range 3. And of course once placed at the beginning of the game they do not move.
The Rebels would have 200 points of fighters.
Then I would need to model the trench. It should be wide enough to fit 3 fighters across, with maybe a little wiggle room. Once in the trench, you cannot be targeted by ships nor turrets outside of the trench. (I know, in the movie Han Solo shot a ship from the Millennium Falcon from outside, but lets just have a straight fight without the "deus ex machina.") In order to hit the exhaust port you need to enter the trench at a certain point (the beginning). Once inside, there are no more curved maneuver templates, just straight ones. I think we can assume that you are maneuvering so as not to hit the walls. Only one gun turret can be placed inside the trench, and it is not an obstacle (you don't have to worry about crashing into it.) Also only a proton torpedo can hit the port. it takes 3 * to be called a hit. So I think you may want to "focus".
There should also be a time limit for the game, I'm not sure how long. I figure a trip down the trench should be at least 4 turns, in the movie they did it 3 times, also you have to get there. So...20 turns, until the rebel base is destroyed.
