personally i think ETC rules are best as an all or nothing deal. the army specific comps are written with the terrain layout, battleline scenarios 20-0 system, and terrain rules in mind. if you change any of those, the army restrictions get skewed even further. and i don't think blending simple and true LoS is a good idea either, it leaves too much of a gray area that will lead to confusion and altercations i think. especially given certain peoples' tendency to not read basic BRB rules or tourney rulespacks.
