The AA mount rule from Apocalypse, since that lets you shoot at flyers normally, are we saying that AA mount is equivalent to Skyfire?

This seems reasonable and I'm inclined to say yes.  Going any other way seems... dumb.
Just so you know, well, somethings have changed model wise, according to FW and such.  All fliers seemed to have gained Skyfire even though some didn't have it before.  Both Skyfire and AA are a bit different considering Skyfire is a set mode and AA wasn't.  As in, if you fire Skyfire, it's a declared shot and you can't shoot normally at ground targets.

I would just assume you may want to go more "model by model and check your FAQs and updated codecies before you bug this thread".

You are probably right, Chase, just pointing out something that might matter, FW and GW have been pretty good about these rules.

I which I did, but I had to "bug" this thread because FW did not update all their stuff.  The final FAQs are not done yet.  So I am left with my pintle mounted (which have the AA mount rule) big shootas on my Grot Tanks and my Ork Flakkatrakk with it AA mounted guns that didn't get updated in the inital FAQ.  Hell the Flakkatrakk doesn't even have hull points right now.  Since FW and GW have not been pretty good about updating all their stuff, I have to bug the thread to get the answers I need for Megabattle.

Since I brought it up, The Flakkatrakk doesn't have any hull points listed.  I am assuming that it has as many hull points as an Ork trukk, which is 3.  Would that be a valid assumption?

Do the rules for flyers in the 6th edition rulebook supercede the rules for them in the Apocalypse book? (for the record, I think they should).

Can we buy fortifications? is there a limit to how many we can purchase? Do these fortifications supersede the stratagems that also use these pieces?

I'm glad you asked this.

I think limiting players to 1 fortification is probably a good idea.  I will ask Derek what he thinks about this.

My only concern is the aesthetics here.
Would this limit replace the strategic assets that give you fortifications?  I ask because last year i was able to deploy 6 feet of defensive walls for my guard to take cover in.  I was planning on bringing 9 feet this year.  Losing those walls would make me radicly redesign my list.

This limit (which might be changed to zero) will not effect Strategic Assets.

Would it be better or worse to say that models with the AA special rule have Skyfire instead of calling them equivalent?

It seems stupid to rule that a Flakkatrakk can't shoot at flyers "correctly."

I want Steve Riley to answer this.  I will email it to him now.

6th ed rules for flyers are the rule for all flyers now. Forge World FAQs say the Super Heavy Flyers use these rules as well. Apocalypse had the rules because they did not exist anywhere else, now they are part of the base game.

Unless I am missing something by reading the rules, AA mount and Skyfire are the exact same thing.

I believe the flakka trukk along with 45 other flyers and anti flyers appear in the new imperial armor book.

the BIG difference between AA and sky fire is mainly for flyers. If i declair skyfire then all guns must shoot in skyfire mode. If i leave it as is with AA then the AA guns fire with the Skyfire rule. I think this is mostly for fliers that have the ability to shoot different targets. This is my thoughts im probably wrong

Hey, there are only 23 of the 45 vehicles are for Imperials.  That is so in favor of the Xenos...oh wait.

That should answer my questions.  Interesting, it appears there is a flakka trukk and flakkatrakk (oh course it is a little blurry to read the table of contents).  Going to be interesting what the difference is going to be. Just hope my flakkatrakk model will still work.

Someone with better eyes than mine was able to make out what the flakk fortress says for weapons.  It appears that Flakka Gunz are 48", S7, Ap4, Assault 4, Skyfire & Interceptor.

I am assuming that pintle mount weapons will just get skyfire when the new book comes out.

I would personally say no to pintle mounted getting skyfire if gw intended them to have it they would have mentioned it in the core flier rules our the errata for one of the 10 armies that get pintle mounted weapons.

This logic seems sound.

If the new IA book covers and updates all of the new flyers and units specifically designed for AA then let's go by the book for everything else.

People tend to like going with the books and I do too when it's made easy.

Actually, after seeing some of this pan out and talking to a couple of people, I think the game will translate pretty well to Apoc.
