Apocalypse has several "Battlefield Assets:" Tunnels, Bunkers, Minefields and Obstacles, which are vaguely similar to fortifications. The Front Line Assets: Disruptor Beacon, Null Field Generator, Supreme Headquarters and Shield Generator are still defensive but less like V6 fortifications.
I don't think we should start banning assets.
Perhaps if a player takes Apocalypse assets that are very similar to fortifications we might not allow a player to buy V6 fortifications as well? Either is fine, but not both?
Is this really necessary though? I'm far more worried about too much flank march than too many fortifications.
I'd like to surface a couple of past year problem rulings just to make sure there are rulings in place this year. Not saying the rulings have to be exactly like last year, but we ought to think them through.
Chaos is allowed to use Imperial data sheets, but are they allowed to use Imperial named characters?
V6 targeting rules for vehicles (like V5) says guns may not be aimed more than 45 degrees above or below horizontal. Thus, enemy units close to a tall walkers might not be targetable.
There was a house rule that Disruptor Beacons must be at least 2 inches from cover. There was a fear that people might 'model for advantage' by using tiny little disruptor beacon models. I'd suggest that all Front Line Assets have a minimum model size, it's got to be as big as a monstrous creature base? If so, there might not need far a house cannot be put in cover rule?
