In the nightmare future of the 41st Millennium, Mankind teeters upon the brink of destruction. The galaxy-spanning Imperium of Man is beset on all sides by ravening aliens and threatened from within by Warp-spawned entities and heretical plots. Only the strength of the immortal Emperor of Terra stands between humanity and its annihilation, and in his name, countless warriors and agents do battle against the encroaching darkness. Foremost amongst them stand the Space Marines, the ultimate protectors of Mankind.

Across airless moons, within the depths of dark, twisted hive worlds and even in the immaterial realm of Warp space, battles rage that will shape the future of the galaxy forever.

It is a universe that you can enter today, if you dare. But remember that this is a dark and terrible era, and there is no peace amongst the stars...

The Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook is your essential guide to playing atmospheric battles in the 41st Millennium. It helps you field majestic armies of Citadel miniatures across the war-ravaged battlefields of the far-future, in the ultimate contest of strategy and skill.

With 440 full-colour pages, this hardback Rulebook is packed with rich background and contains all the rules for fighting pulse-pounding tabletop battles. The Rulebook includes exciting features such as dynamic close-combat, flyers, psychic devastation and interactive scenery. As well as jaw-dropping artwork, contained within is a history of the 41st Millennium and a richly detailed guide to the races and weapons of the far-future. It also features a comprehensive hobby section to set you on the path to choosing, collecting and building your own Warhammer 40,000 army of Citadel miniatures.

So here's what propose: I'm gonna make 2000 pt cheesy lists with what I know of 6th so far. Allies, psychic swap outs, the whole thing.  Who wants to fight that?

I think people would have more fun if you brought casual lists with fluffy ally choices. It's going to be an exciting day going over a new rules edition, why spoil that by bringing a cheesy list? It's not like it's a tournament or anything.

because............that's how you test out if it's broken, or not, and what works, or doesn't.

I don't particularly care if I win or lose, but I want to try out all the "extreme" stuff.  Some people DO have fun testing out that sort of thing.  You're apparently not that guy.

Why do you have to spoil it by being all "fluffy and casual"?

the big problem with bringing a cheesy list is you dont know if its cheesy at all you may find out when you get there that the allies you wanted to take are illegal the psychic powers don't work exactly the same and the little special rules you haven't read yet actually cripple your army. in general the big problem with a launch party like this is there is a 400 page rule book that no one has read required for play.

I think a cup of tea and good reading glasses are more important saturday than a cheesy list. reminds me a bit of the 4e D&D release but atleast they gave out quick start adventures...and I found a PDF someone put online a few days before hand so I got to read the whole book before hand...sadly I keep looking but GW hasen't had any serious leaks I am aware of.

Being up-front about trying to break the game should be clearly stated before any game. The attitude is fine, but at least in Plainville it'll catch a fair number of people by surprise.

I thought I was clearly stating it?  That's why I said "cheezy list".  Which Librarian is right, I may well have a poor conception of what a "cheezy list" is for 6th.  Indeed, I'm not expecting this to be a GOOD list, I'm going to try to stuff one of every weird thing in there, it's almost more a grab bag than anything else.

Then Logan went and made it sound like I was jerk for suggesting that.........and I disagree.  Can we be friends now?

I want to try out the weird new stuff.  If that's not what you're looking for, that's fine.....I'm looking for the people who are.  I'm thinking shortly after lunch, as I'll get there early, I'll have had 3-4 hours to check out the things I haven't read already.  It shouldn't actually be a hardcore game, because the point is to try out the new stuff, maybe some tactics, not win, particularly.

IN further disclousure, my list thoughts are going something like this:

GK+Tau.   Coteaz (because why pay for a libby) with his power switched out for divination powers (twinlinked psycannons, ho!).  Stormraven, have to try out flyers, and a Land Raider, because I need to try them out.  terminators, need to try out new assault weapons.  A bastion, which I will probably put broadsides in ('cuz I can!)

I'm awesome at causing controversy.

As long as you and your opponent have fun, that's great!

Also, I very badly wish that I could be there on Saturday, but it looks like I'll have to wait till Sunday to pick up the book.

You were. Stating it on a forum and stating it while meeting your opponent in real life who likely doesn't read the forum, those are different things.

"hey, i'm looking for a game."
"okay, let's play."
"... Ah shit! cheese!"

Because from there, it's all downhill.

Just because you can fit into the backpack doesn't mean you will get it.
