To generate more hype for Saturday 40K I'm going to pull a "Ben" and for everyone who plays a game this saturday (in 6 or 5th edition) will get a raffle ticket for 1 white scars biker (painted by your truely) Don't expect anything pro painted but it does look ok. Pics to come later and hope to see you all on saturday!

We had a great day for 40K in Abington today, there may have only been 1 or 2 games, but they where worth it. The first game of both Saturday 40K and of 6th Edition in Abington was a amazing one, 7 people, 1500 points each, pure chaos  ;D

 Here's what armys where played:

-Tyranids
-Orks
-IG (All footguard)
-Necrons
-Another Ork player
-Space Marines and Grey Knights (using allies rules)
-Eldar and IG (also using allies rules)

The map was simply 2 folding tables pushed together with some basic terrain on it.
We decided to do a "King of the Hill" style game where the only objective was a single base in the center of the table.
There was no clear winner, after around 4 1/2 hours of playing, people had to go home and "say that everyone won" The troops remaining where anywhere from 1 single ork bommer with no bombs left, to myself where I still had 1K points of eldar still in reserve. All in all it was a fun day and everyone left happy. I hope that all Saturday 40Ks are as fun as this one was. ;D

Don't worry Steve I have a feeling that there will be a lot more games of 40K going on, and not just on Saturdays  ;)

A brand new Tau player has been kicking ass in the new edition.  As it turns out, fire warriors are pretty sick in smaller games.

I've always been an infantry heavy player, and struggled with 5th's emphasis on vehicles and mechanized.  I'm gathering the tide has turned, that after pushing vehicles for a version it's the infantry's turn again?

To be honest, my understanding of the game and new edition is something just slightly beyond non-existent but it seems like shooting is quite a bit better.

Some units (like fire warriors) can rapid fire at a longer ranger, all? units get to shoot once/ at BS 1 if they're being assaulted, and you can move (back) and shoot once.  Couple this with the whole "glance things to death" and spam shooting seems decent.

Most of what I've heard involved games at 500ish points though.

Considering in fights with Capt. Brian's SM i used to glance rhinos a lot and kill the occasional tank with a flanking fire warrior squad...my 70 will have fun times with this new hull points mechanic....
