Im really surprised the book was openly pushing apoc and apoc reload, with the introduction of hull points in 6th edition it makes all the current IA and APOC datasheets useless.

They need to faq update all the super heavy datasheets or come out with a blanket "all hull point values on IA datasheets need to be doubled"

Its pretty damn broken right now with a landraider having more hull points then a baneblade

yeah that is true unless they have structure points in addition to hull points. So to blow up a bane blade you must knock off all the structure points and the hull points. Giving everything a HP value in addition to their SP will work.

Not just the superheavies either, there are dozens and dozens of other IA vehicles that i guess forgeworld will have to assign a hull point value to.

how many hull points for a land raider achilies?

how many hull points for a contemptor dreadnought?

etc etc etc

the double force org chart for 2k + points should make for exciting options as well

I think figuring out the hull points on the forge world stuff would be beneficial. With out actualy saying no one knowes how much they have we can only assume. I will need this info soon cause in the Mega battle I plan on fielding forge world specific veichles.

the hull points are by far the easiest of the mega battle rules to deal with. going over the lists in the back of the book most vehicles have 3, super tough things like war wagons, land raiders, and monoliths have 4 and squishy light things like land speeders, war walkers, sentinels, and various buggy type vehicles have 2. so its very easy to just give the odd pattern land raiders and rhinos the same as the ones in the book.

as for super heavies thats an odd situation you don't want them easily killed but useing the old glanceing rolls in the new system is a bit weird..hopefuly GW will get a errata up for apoc soon. but if not I would be willing to consider giveing super heavies 3 hull points, with a special rule stating when they loose there hull points are reduced to zero they loose one structure point, and whenever they loose a structure point they recover all lost hull points. so they can be poked to death with glances but it will take alot of them.

Well, you could use the super heavy damage table, as it sits in Apocalypse Main Rule book. ;)

so its been about 3 weeks sense we last got an update on the order vs chaos thing any major changes?

as for doing imperium vs everyone else the only factions that will effect are eldar and tau which may not be a very big shift. on the upside it would allow some eldar pirate style lists. I can also see a table where less chaos theamed traitor guard team up with tau (traitors to the imperium but not chaos worshipers those that have seen the greater good)

So, with allies being "in" in the main 40k rules, would it be acceptable for a participant in the Megabattle to include a main detachment + allies within the 4000 pts?  I think I can recruit 2 more participants if this is allowed (they just don't have 4000 pts of any one army).

I don't think they ever said you CAN'T take more than one force, just that it was discouraged. I'm sure if your friends had a fluffy combination (IG+grey knights, Chaos space marines + Daemons, etc) no one would have a problem with it.

Same rule as every year I would imagine, you can only be on the proper side.  So chaos IG have to look the part.  Depending which force is on what side, it would reflect on who the allies are available, I would imagine.

OK 7am I gotta go to bed but I thought you should know that Forgeworld has up errata/updates for apoc and regular FW minis with full rules for using superheavies and gargantuan creatures. There is also a rumor going around that FW will in the future be releaseing GW official codexs for some of the less well loved/niche armies like salamanders, death korps, and drop troops.

figured I should mention it here too.

I just went back and read that part of that thread.  I said that because at the time I was expecting 6th edition to release on August 4th (one of the two dates we were considering at the time).

Since we're getting it 1.5+ months before the Megabattle, if at all possible, we're going to run it in 6th edition.

It's just me flip-flopping as usual, that's all.

Chase,
If at all possible, can we stick with 5th edition? I know I'm only one person but I will not be getting a rulebook until the minibooks come out. I have a rough idea of the changes but I think that everyone will not have a compete understanding of the rules and that's just going to slow things down even more than they usually are.

You'll be fine, I'm looking forward to playing 6th in the mega battle, and frankly the rules in 6th are so much cleaner it should be better all round.
