Derek or Chase, when can we expect table maps?
We're missing out on all the wrangling about where we put stuff, and how the destruction of the bad guys is going to go :)

There was talk about a month ago of a possible reorganization to Imperium vs. Everyone else if the sides ended up being very uneven.   

What is the current head count on each side?

Don't know much about Order but there seem to be about 5 members who have introduced themselves on  the disorder forum.

That is indeed close. I thought it would have larger margin of order players than disorder. Hopefully it will even out in the end.

so its past closing time on the final day of mega battle registration. So unless someone has signed up in the last few hours I guess it stands 11 to 15.

There's going to be two tables.

The big table will be city themed and be 10ish v 10ish
The smaller table will be 12000 points on 12000 points and be ice themed.

Table maps should show up later this week.  Basically, a giant city and an ice world.  I believe the ice world is spoken for on both sides.

Rumor has it that Rich Bourque, Mike Do, and Nick Hough will be fielding Space Marines against Paul Gaughran, Lee Roby, and Chris Desiata fielding Tyranids on the ice table.

Chase,

If Order has 15 players, then by my math, you're currently shorting out 2 players on Order.  Is the smaller table meant to be 3v3 or 5v5?  If 3v3, then we've got a bit of a problem, I think...

OK I am not sure if we are considering things like this this year, I had submitted this last year and it met with more or less general approval but then I decided to play my blood angels so it never got used, I created this data sheet in part to honor a long lost entry from white dwarf during there eye of terror campaign as well as to bolster the tiny number of thousand sons data sheets. (there are two official ones, the thousand sons war coven which is the worst data sheet ever created and the silver tower of tzeentch which might just be one of the worst super heavies out there)

I would like to be able to use this but if not I can try and find something else to spend points on. So here it is The Chosen of Ahriman.

The Thousand Sons were once counted amongst the most loyal of the Emperor's Legions, but that all ended when there Primarch, Magnus the Red, Attempted to use forbidden magics to warn the Emperor of Horus's treachery Exiled from the Imperium by the Emperor, the Thousand Sons now reside in a place of twisted sorcery from where they travel out into the galaxy to gather artifacts, knowledge, and slaves for there magical experiments.


FORMATION:
1+ Thousand Sons Chaos Space Marine Sorcerers or Ahriman (Sorcerers Must Take the Mark Of Tzeetch)

3+ Thousand Sons Squads

SPECIAL OPTIONS AND UPGRADES
Thousand Sons Terminator Squads are Fearless, Slow and Purposeful, Posses the Mark of Tzeetch, and there combi-bolters fire inferno bolts. They must include one (but only one!) Terminator Champion, who costs +40 Points Rather than +10 points as would normally be the case. In addition to his other Abilities he is an Aspiring Sorcerer, and therefore benefits from the Sorcerer Commands and Inferno Bolts Special Rules, and may take psychic Powers from the list in the Thousand Sons troops entry in Codex: Chaos Space Marines. The Aspiring Sorcerer trades his power weapon for a force weapon. The aspiring Sorcerer is the only model in the Squad who is allowed to take any other options.

Among the many great and dangerous secrets gathered by Ahriman in the past ten thousand years is The Key to the eldar webway. Sharing this secret with his chosen followers Ahriman’s strike forces have become all but unstoppable. All Sorcerers in this formation (including Ahriman) Must pay +25 points per sorcerer and are upgraded to Chosen of Ahriman and gain access to The Key psychic power. This Power is in addition to any powers they may have chosen or aquired from other sources.

Master of Sorcery: if Ahriman is a part of this formation he grants his side the Strategic Redeployment asset but this benefit is lost if Ahriman is killed before it is used.

ok so alot of the changes in 6e that people talk about don't actually effect a mega battle things like secondary force org charts and allies, but one of the new rules warlord traits should be looked at. Most of them are perfectly fine but I can see issues with a few of them due to the nature of such a large game and  the number of people involved.

Command Trait #2 intimidating presence unlike the rest of the command traits that only effect your units and are easy for a player to remember this one effects all enemies within 12" and could be a bit of a pain for everyone involved.

Personal Trait #4 the mega battle deals with victory points in its own way and letting characters generate extra ones every round in a challenge could cause problems.

Strategic Traits #2, 4, 5, and 6. #2 starts the game with night fight which is a pain and coupled with some of the assets in apoc could allow people to shut down the game for the first few turns. #'s 4, 5 and 6 all rely on reserves and set up rules that are not used in this game. # 3 is also possibly a problem but to a much lesser degree.

Dealing with warlord traits can go a couple of ways, we could ban them but that's heavy handed and will cause problems next year as the new codexs will sometimes have custom warlord lists as well as giving named characters unique warlord traits already factored into there cost.

we could have a list of unusable traits and have people reroll if they get them, we could even write a whole mega battle only list of traits.

But the easiest method is to take a page out of the apocalypse rules and reduce randomness. Just allow each player to pick which trait there warlord has, have it listed on there army list beside there warlord, this gives everyone a bit more customization and eliminates the need for every player to have to roll before the game starts, there will be a lot of pre game rolling for psychic powers as it is without adding warlord traits to the mix.

OK phew.   If we have 11 people that still makes for a pretty apocalyptic type game I suppose.  Was getting worried there.   I guess if these folks all prepaid, even if they don't show up on the forum we can be pretty sure they will be there at the actual event with an army...
