[Abington MA] Avacyn Restored Prerelease - April 28th and 29th

Come to our Avacyn Restored Prerelease and experience the newest Magic: the Gathering set a week before it goes on sale!


Main Events:

Players **WILL** be required to preregister for each Prerelease event in order to collect the spoils inside each Helvault.  To preregister, please call the store at 781.261.9669 or talk to someone behind the counter.

Format: Sealed Deck*
Date: April 28th a Friday night / Saturday morning
Time: 12:00am (midnight)
Entrance Fee: $25.00 per person
This event WILL NOT be a Helvault Event

Format: Sealed Deck*
Date: April 28th a Saturday afternoon
Time: 2:00pm
Entrance Fee: $25.00 per person
This event WILL be a Helvault Event

Format: Sealed Deck*
Date: April 28th a Saturday night
Time: 7:00pm
Entrance Fee: $25.00 per person
This event WILL NOT be a Helvault Event

Format: Sealed Deck*
Date: April 29th a Sunday afternoon
Time: 2:00pm
Entrance Fee: $25.00 per person
This event WILL be a Helvault Event

*Sealed Deck: Each player receives SIX packs of Avacyn Restored to use for building a deck.  Battleground will supply basic lands.



Presented differently, we will run:

Avacyn Restored Sealed Deck - After FNM at midnight (12:01am) on Saturday morning
Avacyn Restored Sealed Deck - 2:00pm on Saturday (Helvault)
Avacyn Restored Sealed Deck - 7:00pm on Saturday
Avacyn Restored Sealed Deck - 2:00pm on Sunday (Helvault)

What Do I Get?

Prizes are based on attendance. There will be 2 booster packs per player put into the prize pool. Prizes packs are typically awarded to the top 30% of finishers.


In the Sealed Deck tournaments (the main events) each each player receives (while supplies last):

6 packs of Avacyn Restored
1 promo card (Moonsilver Spear)
1 Achievement card

The achievement card is a fun activity for players to complete. Earn the satisfaction of completing all the tasks over the course of the Prerelease! Players participating in a Helvault Prerelease will use the achievement cards to open the Helvault during the tournament.




What Else Can I Do?

Open Dueling: Open Dueling players each receive 1 Avacyn Restored Intro Pack and 1 promo card (Moonsilver Spear). Open Dueling players use their Intro Pack to play against each other, as well as Prerelease tournament players who are between matches. All players should be encouraged to help teach Open Dueling participants how to play Magic.


Commander Melees:

Use your Commander decks with your friends!


Come down, play some cards, check out the new set, and meet some new people!

Hey chase/ anyone else on the web team: How is the opening of the helvault going to work? i read here that you have to fill out a scoresheet but after talking to cale today, he said that the first 50 people to sign up will get to open up a helvault. I am just a little confused (i always am  ) Thanks, king

At the beginning of the prerelease you will receive an achievement card.  Over the course of the prerelease you will have to keep track of the number of achievements you accomplish and mark them down.

Once a player has accomplished a certain number of achievements (probably 15 but based on turnout) that player will be asked to come up to the counter and break one of the 15 seals on the Helvault.  Once all 15 seals have been broken the Helvault will open and its contents will be given out to the first 54 players to (pre)register for that prerelease.

Each Helvault only has enough stuff for 54 players, so if you want to make sure you get whatever is inside make sure to preregister ASAP.

There are instructions on what to do if players fail to open the Helvault, but I won't disclose those here....
