not really I believe the week in between Christmas and new years as previously stated would most likely have more people out of town and that Christmas parties and such would just have to come down to a choice for the individual. go to a Christmas party or to an event that you have work a year to get invited to.
http://www.bts.gov/publications/america_on_the_go/us_holiday_travel/html/entire.html

"During the 6-day Thanksgiving travel period, the number of long-distance trips (to and from a destination 50 miles or more away) increases by 54 percent, and during the Christmas/New Year’s Holiday period the number rises by 23 percent"

"At the Christmas/New Year’s holiday, the average increases to nearly four nights away."

I am strongly leaning towards December 8th at this minute.

I'm not super interested in having a public discussion related to the date of the event.  I hope to have it for you for tomorrow night.

Haha... I think the lesson is that December is probably the worst month to have an Invitational.  Maybe next year we wait till January after the holidays are just over?

Great idea, i loved the concept of the Invitational this year but yah, December looks to be problematic. Oh well live and learn, hopefully next years Invitational is in January

Quick question for those in the know. What are the chances I'll still be invited after all the qualifiers are over? I have tentative plans to be in California on the 5th, but those are pretty flexible plans. I'd probably push off going (or make sure I was back by then) if there was a good chance I'd still be in.

Also, do we have a rules pack? Point level, potential mission types, whether we're using mysterious objectives/terrain, etcetera?

Banosby the way I am looking at it right now if you are in the top 33 after the last qualifier you will be able to go. I think I will be dropping out of that area after the Doubles because I can never make it to those things.

Not yet.

potential mission types,

The fun, tournamenty types that get thought about after this stupid MtG event is over this weekend?

whether we're using mysterious objectives/terrain

No mysterious objectives.  Terrain will be used, however (but not the mysterious kind).

etcetera?

More details when it's not 5am and I can stop seeing cards everywhere I look.

Any idea how many games it'll be? Trying to figure out how important it'll be to table people as opposed to just winning.

And any guesses if I'll be in the top 33 or whatever after the remaining qualifiers? How many qualifiers are left?

Top 33 I dont think is correct.  There are 16 spots that come from placings.  Roughly about 5-6 already in that are in top 16 so roughly if you place in top 20 you should get in.

Simon right now your placed 11th with 1 tourny to go.  I would say you are safe as I dont see you dropping 9 places after 1 tourny.

I imagine tabling in the invitational will be important for winning it.

I did a bunch of work on one tournament tonight, with the idea to keep pushing forward now and get invitational stuff out sooner rather than later. So we're working on it all!

But of course, keep suggestions and ideas coming. Honestly, you guys have more experience playing and more experience about what makes a tournament work well. It's easy to work too close to something and not see obvious issues.
