Question about a rule I can not find.
« on: December 15, 2011, 10:43:34 PM »
Ok I was playing a 750 point game last week and there was a discussion between me and the other play about a rule that we couldnt find in the rule book so I was hoping that someone could clearify it for us.

for example say an ork and space marines armies are in assult phase and they both are are still standing after phase is complete. Can a player use a weapon that requires a TEMPLATE and hit the oponents army thats in assult phase?  The rule book dosnt seem to make it all that clear.

I know that the oponent can NOT shoot a gun at the mob if its in assult phase but dose that also count for TEMPLATES?

Thank you.

Good news, the rule itself is pretty clear.

Page 40, Shooting Into & Out of Close Combat.

"While blast markers and templates may not be deliberately placed such that they cover any models locked in combat, they may end up there after scattering and will hit any models they touch (friend and foes!)."

Blasts scatter while Templates do not. So no, you cannot shoot your flamer and hit models locked in assault. But you can always put a Blast near them and hope for scatter!

So when it comes to TEMPLATES you Dont have to put the over an enemy unit can you just place the over terain and hope or a scatter?

Also if the scatter dice puts the template behind terain dose it fizzle out?

Not to be a Jerk but I am going to take it as this.

So when it comes to TEMPLATES you Dont have to put them over an enemy unit? can you just place the over terain and hope for a scatter?

The Answer is No they have to be aimed above an enemy unit .

No, the scatter is unintentional movement from the fired shell so it can move behind terrain or move greater than the max distance of the gun based off the scatter die.

You guys should come play at one of the stores sometime.  All sorts of rules questions can get answered and you can meet tons of new people.  ;)

After being in the rule-zone, there was still one rule from my game with Nick last night that we didn't quite settle, regarding the monstrosity that is the Stormraven.

Do the wings count as part of the Stormraven's vehicle model? We both wanted to say yes, but couldn't be sure, because of the many examples where certain parts of the vehicles do not count. Last night was an unusual situation where the wings were covered more than the hull.

In our particular case, we 4-upped for either a 4+ or 5+ cover save. Then Nick rolled a 3, so we felt better.

A: Yes

Sweet, thanks. I hurriedly paged through the FAQs, but by the time one is doing that, the rules are getting in the way of fun and time.
