If there's enough interest, I will certainly make it official. If you look up 'Journeyman League'. That's what we could work off of.

yeah, that always works well. Do we want to start a fresh thread just to see who is still interested?

here are the rules if anyone is interested.

http://privateerpress.com/files/CompleteJourneyman.pdf

though, instead of using premade battle box armies, I have heard of people having great success making their own battle box force. this gives people a lot more freedom. the rules i have typically seen are something like

-no more than 11 points (glares meaningfully at the cryx battle box)
-no character warjacks/beasts
-dont be a prick

the last one is in there because there are some insanely broken combo's out there at 11 points, and while im sure you could, just remember, this is about bringing new people into the hobby, not scaring them away.

so, for instance, a Phinneus shae battle box could be
Shae
-freebooter
-mariner
-buccaneer

11 points

or
Ashlyn
-vangaurd
-nomad
-nomad

I have also seen rules like those. The whole point is to let people learn as they build a force, so they have an idea which direction to go in as they get comfortable. I also like that if 2 people wanna try Cygnar that there won't be 2 pStrykers in the mix. I would also urge people who are new to pick simpler casters to start.

I would love everyone to keep that in mind as they pick their caster (I'm staring at you, no-fun-eDenny and eSkarre). Have fun and learn the game. If you already know the game, bring your unpainted stuff and build it up or start a new faction.

I'm totally down for this. I think it'd be very fun and a good way to get the Plainville community engaged in Warmachine/Hordes! I imagine Chase will allow it.

Yeah, especially since there isn't all that much administrative work to be done. Foodmaster, you seem to know what you are doing. How many people do you think we will need for this?

Loranus, in they Journeyman league info, they have suggested Battleboxes for factions that don't have one. So, check that out.

The kit to run it has enough flor 8 players. After that, the kits can add 4 more people. It seems like theres about 5 people interested. We could jump off with that amount and add if a couple more get interested.

I'm interested in participating if scheduling works out. Would get me motivated to do more intense painting sessions. I've got maybe 35 points of Khador right now, most are just primed but I started testing some painting techniques on a juggernaut.

I may be up for this. I have a crapload of Cygnar done, but could maybe use this as motivation to put a bigger dent in another one of my factions.

I'd be up for this I think... like I said, it's hard to get to Plainville very often to play, but motivation to paint is always good...

I have some Trolls that have never seen the tabletop...

I like the look of the battleset they give for Retribution and I have a fun idea on how to paint them if this starts after I get my tax money I may join in.

I'm thinking that you could play games all week and we could have a weekly meeting day to judge paint progress and play more games. Saturdays during the day usually work or maybe Sunday evenings? My weekdays aren't very available, but I might be able to swing something with my wife :)

I am interested in discussion on what night to hold meetings.

Saturdays aren't good due to the fact that events can get in the way.  Sad but true.

Before we all start tossing around days of the week I think we need to analyze the possible space usage for this event at BG.

How many back tables would we take up for painting?
Consider how much space people need for their tools and paint supplies, can we fit 4 people to a table?
Then we may need 2-3 back tables?
How many active game tables might we be using at any given time?

If we compare our space usage to BGs current time slots then I think we can hash out a time that works for everyone. For instance I would advise against Thursday's because it is 40k night which takes up the game table and it also is casual magic night which takes up the back tables.

A suggestion and I didn't see this anywhere in there maybe an award or vote for best painted force at end. I know they have hobbyist but that points to quantity over quality. I myself if I wa nt to be involved with retribution need to drop 88$ for 4 models that I think total too 8 hobbyist points over 6 weeks I may be able to buy 1 to 2 model or sets which at max could be 8 points. I know other new players may run into the same player. Could call it The Perfectionist.

Rofel:

Weekly Plainville events are as follows, with some very general estimates:

Monday: Magic Draft, between 8-20 players. Also, sizable LFR game.
Tuesday: Warhammer Fantasy is getting some steam, up to 8 players, and Magic Legacy, not sure how many people are actually playing, say another 8?
Wednesday: D&D Encounters, you will likely have little to no table space
Thursday: 40k. There would be enough room to paint, as the 40k people play. There is now starting Magic Commander league, but I don't know how big that'll get. But they'll take up some table space. I'd assume a dozen people to start.
Friday: Friday Night Magic. Yeah, no.
Weekends: Like Chase said, Saturdays tend have events, most of which occupy the greater part of the store. Sundays are generally quiet, if you don't mind the Pokemon crowd in the early afternoon.

Mondays and Tuesdays, there will be table space, maybe with some creative shuffling involved. Sundays would be free enough as well.
Wednesdays and Fridays are dominated.
Thursdays would be okay, depending on how big the Commander league gets.
