Results: TANKSgiving - Plainville

Thanks to everyone that came out to celebrate!  It's always a goofy, fun event.  I am always looking for more events like it, so if you see them in your travels across the internet please send them my way.



After 12 rounds of carnage I'd like to congratulate Mike Defevers and Simon Leen on their victory.  A tie on TANKSgiving?  Who would have thought?  I am told they have the most expensive and least expensive tanks between them.  Pretty cool, huh?  Both players were given the tank of their choice.


A few awesome things to note:
Dave Dourins little Wave Serpent managed to survive the entire event!  How does that happen?
Andy Norris managed to kill 3 different tanks in one turn.  Awesome!

I just love how in the end, it came down to a tie between a giant super heavy... and a puny little exorcist. truly a david Goliath story if i have ever seen one.

Id also like to congratulate myself on never surviving a single round on the table!

It helped that Simon had a sound plan, rolled well enough to get the exact upgrades he needed and figured out the play pattern pretty quick.

My play pattern was people looking somewhat guilty about shooting my Land Raider (as they liked it), and still shooting it off the table anyway.

We definitely need durability awards next year. Longest alive streak, and Most times redeployed.

I figured upgrades played a large role in his success. I was planning on going with a Baal Predator and praying for the upgrades I wanted.

Actually, that was another idea I had to get people off the board edge.

Place an objective marker in the middle. The closer you are to the marker at the end of your turn, the more points you score.

I can say for sure that we will NOT be using the GW TANKSgiving rules next year.

Excellent! I was worried I was going to have to make a wagon from a tissue box and a roll of toilet paper. Add a little bolt gun metal and write "Deth Rolla" in red and proceed to pwn. Get blown up, respawn behind, wreck, offer tissue, and get wrecked. "Repeat as necessary"

While the Deth Rollas did rack up some hefty points, they did not end up winning.   Still, like the tissue box idea.  The event was fun, if for no other reason to see the super heavies you don't always see in normal game play.  Sorry if I got a little too competative at the beginning.  All in all, Tanks for the memories.

My one suggestion would be NOT having it the evening before Thankgiving.  I really tried to get there but with all the pre-feast prep work, had I left... Well, I would need a divorce attorney!  As to other fun mini-games, you should try some fantasy ones too.  Chariot races, jousts, barroom brawls... I think there are some fun possibilities there!

I don't have the exact scores for Abington, but for those interested, the night was won by the Iron Saint (a special Shadowsword from WD#352) with a Battlewagon in close second.
