I thought I would post a link here to a great game by Warhammer Historical. Trafalgar is naval combat game during the Napoleonic High Age of Sail.
Its very much a tactical and strategy based miniature game, as a ships captain you need to remember inertia and the size and scale of your ship since it might hinder maneuverability. Fire full broadsides, bow and stern chasers and sink or capture your enemies ships. The game can be played on a various levels scale, from 1/2400, 1/1200, 1/300, to 1/100 there are rules to adjust measurements for all of these.
I currently own two 1/1200 fleets, A British fleet (8 ships) and French fleet (7 ships), about 1600-1825 pts worth
without upgrades so lots of fun to be had...
