HAHA nice. If you think he is a super hero at 2k. Superman eat your heart out at 500. This is going to be epic.

If I owned scouts, my list would be him and a bunch of dumb 4+ dudes to have scoring units.

Mephiston is a great standard, everyone's first "go to" choice. Fateweaver, if he lands Turn 1, is beast mode incarnate. Draigo and paladins will dig in like ticks. Those are the big three names getting bounced around. They'll probably win you more than a few games, but how wise is it to spend half (or more!) your list on one model? How many eggs, how many baskets? Those are among questions I hope will be answered.

SCENARIOS:

Round 1 - Kill Troops!

Deployment: Pitched Battle

Mission: In this scenario, scoring units count as double victory points. Note: Some units such as Swarms are not scoring units and not doubled! Please make sure your opponent knows which units of yours are scoring units. Player scoring the most Victory Points by game end wins.

Round 2 – Cornered into No Man's Land

Deployment: Diagonal (lines drawn from points 14” from corner)

Mission: Capture 3 objective markers, spaced evenly across No Man's Land. The first is placed in the center of the table. The other two are placed in the center of the quarters not dominated by the deployment zones. Player controlling most objectives by game end wins.

Round 3 – Objectification

Deployment: Pitched Battle

Mission: 3 objective markers evenly spaced on a north-south center line. Controlling an objective is worth 25 VP per game turn, while contesting an objective is worth 10 VP per game turn. These Victory Points are scored in addition to the normal means of killing the enemy. Player scoring the most Victory Points by game end wins.

Round 4 – Spread Out

Deployment: Spearhead, 9” circle

Mission: Control the most table Table Quarters. A player with the most Victory Points in a quarter at game end controls the quarter. A unit can control a table quarter only if the table quarter contains the majority of the unit's models. A unit cannot control multiple table quarters. If a unit's table quarter is unable to be determined, the table quarter is settled by a roll-off.

Round 5 - Reese's Conundrum

Deployment: Pitched Battle

Mission: Units that end the game in the enemy's half of the board count as double for the purposes of Victory Points. Player with the most Victory Points remaining wins.

Ugh... I think there is a major issue with these missions.   You need some way to break all draws in the missions.  The entire format is based on having one winner and one loser in each game.

However unlikely draws are in certain missions, they are possible.

I think the way Ben wrote these up is that all ties will be broken by VPs.  I suppose it's possible that each player scored the same amount of VPs, but I assume this chance is very, very, very small.  Is that assumption correct?

Ok, I must have missed that in the general description.

I was specifically thinking of mission 2 and 4.

Yes, VPs are very hard to draw.

Table quarters and objectives, not as much.

Yes, draws in both matches and overall standings will be settled by Victory Points. It will be crucial for players to accurately track their Victory Points after matches (and in the case of Scenario 3, during the match).

It's hard coming up with non-draw missions! Annihilation and Capture & Control were both out immediately.

Been thinking about calling this informally the "500 Points of Victory" tournament...

The event is filling up quite nicely.  We still have a bunch of spots left, but don't hesitate.  There might not be any left by this time tomorrow.

If you're planning to play, email me NOW.
