I will post my Battle Reports in this thread.

I ran a fun Chaos Daemons list I call Fatechopper. It's like Fatecrusher, but better IMO.

HQ
Fateweaver
Skulltaker, Juggernaut
Herald of Khorne, Juggernaut, Fury of Khorne, Blessing of the Blood God, Chaos Icon

Elite
8 Bloodcrushers, Chaos Icon, Fury of Khorne, Instrument of Chaos
6 Fiends of Slaanesh
6 Fiends of Slaanesh

Troops
8 Bloodletters, Icon of Chaos
8 Bloodletters, Icon of Chaos
8 Bloodletters
9 Nurglings

Fast Attack
6 Screamers of Tzeentch

Heavy Support
Soul Grinder, Phlegm
Soul Grinder, Phlegm
Soul Grinder, Phlegm

2500 points, 14 units.

Skulltaker and the Herald of Khorne run with the 8 Bloodcrushers in what I call the Chopstar.  Their ridiculous durability is meant to be increased by Fateweaver granting save re-rolls. I've heard about eggs and baskets, but Daemons cannot be played conservatively. You gotta be ready to gamble, son.

Fiends are always second wave, my favorite counter-punchers.

I take Nurglings here as an answer to the conundrum of Mission 1's Traitor unit. I take Soul Grinders as an answer to the conundrum of Marines being alive.

I played against...
Round 1: Grey Knights
Round 2: Imperial Guard
Round 3: Space Wolves

That's a tough path to tread, and my overall result shows that.

Coming up tonight, my report against Space Wolves. It was easily my favorite match of the day, full of the Warhammer spirit: a highly challenging match, a friendly opponent and a result to be determined only once the dust settles.

Ard Boyz Preliminary Round 3 Match

Chaos Daemons (Benjamin) vs Space Wolves (Wyatt)

Objective: Earn more victory points than your opponent. Nominate one HQ as your General, who counts as double victory points.

Deployment: Dawn of War

Battle point modifiers:
+1 if you killed all of your opponents troop choices
+1 if your General is alive at the end of the game.
+1 if you kill all of your opponents Fast Attack choices. (If your opponent doesn’t have
any fast attack choices you score this point)

I believe Wyatt chooses Logan as his General. I choose Skulltaker.

My opponent's list, or at least what was important to me. :D

Logan
7 Wolf Guard in power armor
Arjac Rockfist
Land Raider

Njal Stormcaller

5 Wolf Scouts

3 Wolf Guard

10 Grey Hunters, Rhino
9 Grey Hunters, Rhino
9 Grey Hunters, Rhino
8 Grey Hunters, Rhino

5 Long Fangs, 4 ML
5 Long Fangs, 4 ML
5 Long Fangs, 3 ML, 2 Lascannons

Deployment
A table with no impassible terrain is a godsend. I lose the roll, and Wyatt chooses to go first. Wyatt deploys Njal and a squad of Grey Hunters in a Rhino in the center of the board.

Turn 1
Wyatt brings in everything from the board edge, except the Wolf Scouts. Well played, sir. Njal casts Tempest's Wrath.

I realize I'm up against it. His list is solid and he knows how to play. Time for Beast mode! My hope lies in luck and maybe him not knowing as much about Daemons as I do about Space Wolves.

I roll a 1 and get my unpreferred wave. My beast mode now looks like a real donkey.
6 Fiends of Slaanesh
6 Fiends of Slaanesh
8 Bloodletters w/ Icon
8 Bloodletters
Nurglings
Soul Grinder
Screamers of Tzeentch

But when life gives you lemons, blood for the Blood God! I make risky drops. I mishap with the Nurgling squad, and Wyatt places them in my right corner. That Nurgling squad is safe... for now.

Turn 2
Wyatt uses a seldom seen tactic: the strategic retreat, and a retreat back toward symmetry (two Rhinos flanking the Land Raider). It's a solid plan. It gives him more time to kill everything of mine as I make a desperate push toward him through terrain. He kills a Bloodletter squad that fails to run into cover and one Fiend. The Soul Grinder is wrecked. I go to ground with the Bloodletter squad holding the Icon and roll well. The Space Wolves run out of steam, and the icon lives.

Turn 2 reserve rolls are often a defining moment in any Daemon game. I get Fateweaver and 2 Soul Grinders, and they arrive off the icon. The Soul Grinders and Fateweaver hit the Long Fangs hard in the Shooting phase. Important to note that Fateweaver immobilizes Njal's Rhino. On this small event, the game turned greatly.

Turn 3
When the Land Raider pivots to drive around Njal's Rhino, the Land Raider immobilizes itself on terrain! Plans change, so Njal and his group get out of the Rhino, and Logan gets out of the Raider to attach himself to that squad.

Wolf Scouts arrive on the wrong side! The only guarantee Wyatt has for them to be effective is to attack my Nurglings. This match becomes our comic relief.

Shooting goes well for Wyatt. The Brass Soul Grinder is wrecked and the blue/white one is immobilized. Fateweaver dodges Jaws of the World Wolf, but the same cannot be said of the Bloodletter Icon. Half of my Fiends on my far right are shot up by 2 Grey Hunter squads.

Logan initially is not able to make it into base contact with Fateweaver. The combat effectively is a draw.

Nurglings and Wolf Scouts trade jabs. The Wolf Scouts are tough, but there are many Nurglings.

The game goes on to Part 2!

Bottom of Turn 3

My Turn 3 reserves to come in are only the one squad of Bloodletters with an Icon. I drop them in the middle and they scatter back toward me a bit. I mishap with my Chopstar and the squad goes back into reserve. I realize here keeping my General and these 675 points in reserve isn't the worst thing for this scenario.

Fateweaver kills Logan with Boon of Mutation.

I had a chance to win the game here. I needed to roll a 6(x2) to get my Fiends to counter-assault and pull heat off of Fateweaver. I roll the 6 I need, but there's a gentleman's dispute whether the now-measured distance is 12” or 12.0000001”. I lose the deciding roll-off.

Fateweaver loses a wound in assault. I mistakenly send my injured Fiends to into a Grey Hunters squad, and the Fiends are killed by counter-attack. In retrospect, I would have been better off trying to kill the transports. The Nurglings and Scouts continue pounding on each other. My Screamers wreck Njal's transport but fail to damage the immobilized Land Raider.

Turn 4
Wyatt knows the Chopstar is due to arrive. Before then, he hopes to kill my Screamers and save the Land Raider from total destruction. He kills all but two of my Screamers, who on his assault finally wreck the Land Raider. Arjac and the Wolf Guard are pinned.

Wyatt admitted a mistake in not disembarking Arjac sooner; until then I thought he had some cunning plan. Fateweaver takes another wound in assault.

The Chopstar arrives off the Icon and runs toward the middle. Maybe I can get lucky and kill something, because the game is extraordinarily close.

Fateweaver kills Njal with Boon of Mutation. The Fiends finally join in the assault, but too late as Fateweaver dies.

Nurglings and Wolf Scouts, continuing the theater-in-the-park reenactment of Rocky I, II, III, IV and VI.

Turn 5
Wyatt gets his Grey Hunters into transports and beats a hasty retreat away back from the Chopstar.

Wyatt wants to assault the Fiends with Arjac & Wolf Guard and a squad of Long Fangs. Only the Long Fangs make the terrain roll, leaving Arjac to polish his hammer. The Fiends Hit & Run at the end of combat, down below half-strength. Nurglings and Scouts continue their epic duel to the death.

On my five, the Fiends run back to kill the 3-man Grey Hunter squad responsible for killing the blue/white Grinder.

The Nurglings roll two wounds!

A lone survivor of the Great Nurgling Infestation mourns his fallen brothers by howling at the moon.

Turn 6
The Wolves finish off the Screamers.

The Space Wolves fail to kill my Fiends, who sweep back and kill a 2-man Long Fang squad.

Game end!

We tally up the victory points, and because of Ard Boyz margin of victory, we draw with 1020-900ish points left. I take the edge in Battle Points 12-11. Writing up this Battle Report, I realize we forget to double the victory points I score for killing Logan. In effect this would have given me the edge in victory points as well! But not by enough, as the match would have still been counted as a draw. A post-match reminder, always always always triple-check the scenarios before handing in the sheets!

Wyatt finishes in 4th place for the day and is invited to play in the semi-finals. I am invited back to Battleground to spend money any time I like during business hours.

Wyatt was a good sport about it, but I don't think he'd call it hilarious. Then again, he launched Jaws of the World Wolf at me! My instant-removal characteristic-test was clearly superior, only because he rolled poorly then.  :)

Everyone else, sincerely, thank you for the encouragement.

Great battle report, seems like it was a great match. I have a question though, you say in his list that it was 11 grey hunters in a rhino then several units of 10 and 1 of 9, how the hell does one put 11 models in a transport with a capacity of 10? O.o
So I win right?
You're not even playing.
So I'm winning?
Yes Alley, you're winning.

I went off his sheet... and yeah, I don't know exactly. It may have been a misprint on his part. I don't remember anything looking untoward during the game. Either that or he's one of those cheaters I've been hearing about so much lately!  :P

I believe Njal lived with the unit of 9 Grey Hunters. Good roommates, though sometimes Njal forgets to close the windows and the Grey Hunters leave all sorts of hair in the bathroom tub.

I think I can give some insight to this...  Was his list made with Army Builder?  If so, then what you may have saw wasn't 11 Infantry models, but 11 models TOTAL, which would include the Rhino.  When you purchase a Dedicated Transport for a unit, Army Builder factors the vehicle in as an additional model to the unit.  It has no bearing on the game at all, and I think Army Builder just uses it as a way of keeping track of how many models/units are being used for the list.

Ah, yes! That's it, thank you. He broke up the Wolf Guard to have each one live with a different Troops unit, except for one squad of full-up Grey Hunters.

Army Builder can be darn confusing in that regard sometimes.
