I don't know about you, but I really don't feel like babysitting someone to make sure they aren't cheating.
I don't get it. Do you want someone to do it for you?  I understand in an ideal world, no one will cheat. But from what you're inferring, you already know that ideal doesn't match up to reality. If you feel threatened, stand up for yourself. If you're uncomfortable standing up for yourself, then there are bigger issues at play than cheating.

I am trying to make a call to action here.
Again, to whom?

I am trying to start of conversation here about cheaters and cheating and what can/should be done about it.
People shouldn't cheat. If you see cheating, say something.

I do not want someone to do it for me.  I have no issue doing it myself, I DO do it myself.  I simply added that part as I know many people that don't.

I think everyone should be involved in this.

I made a mistake earlier involving anyone by name.  I have edited out of my original post, though I am not sure how much good it will do.

The bigger issue is cheating as whole, I have often gone to whomever the TO is when I see cheating, in my game or otherwise.  Mainly just in a "watch out for this in the future with this person".  But ultimately, it is the opponent in the game whose words carry the greatest weight.

Oh my. I can't see that going well.

The way the community handles it could be done better. I remember a few events back, some dude was a huge jerk and the rumors went around saying he was a dickhead from Dorkamorka (a local gaming club). Turns out, the facts were wrong as could be. He had nothing to do with the group but the thought stuck and even after it was cleared up months ago that he didn't have anything to do with the group, I still hear some undeserved crappy comments about the Dorks based on what happened.

TL;DR - Discretion is important, too.

I'm going to put this as simply as possible:  If you are caught cheating, you will be asked to not return to our events.

If you are suspected of cheating I will be sending you an email or talking about it with you at the event.

Cheating will not be tolerated.  Believe it or not, I spend a lot of time and energy trying to organize and run a good store and great events.  There's a lot we have to deal with, socially and otherwise.  Cheating is not something that we are going to compromise on.

It is invaluable to have a community that polices this sort of thing by itself though.  Shadey play breeds shadey play... and I have no interest in that at all.  Speaking up, mentioning it, and bringing it to my attention ASAP is all perfectly fine and encouraged.

Thanks for the post, Keith.

All the more reason why cheating to win is a little ridiculous.  Don't you think?

Question:
Why not name names when pointing out cheaters?

What if i just started telling everyone you were a cheater? The problem is, the accuser might actually be in the wrong, but if he/she yells out that "so and so" is a cheater, people start to think so, and someone who may be innocent gets screwed.
